Man, I was playing on this other BF2 server earlier today. Just picked a random one off of the list. Anyways, the admins on this server were constantly warning people about this rule and that rule, and constantly kicking people.

The dumbest rule they had was "No Locked Squads" period. Now, there was a 6 man custom squad on my team, it was full, 6/6 and the admin was commander yelling at them over the mic to unlock the squad. I can understand no locked squads if there are already 9 squads, and none of the squads are full, but this was rediculous. There were only 6 squads made at the time, the 6/6 locked squad was the only full squad.

I just didn't understand, all over this server it has all these messages encouraging you to join a squad and use your mic. There was a full squad that was locked and working together.

And then on a map change the teams were something like 37 and 27, and all of the admins were bitching like crazy to even out the teams. It didn't seem to matter that auto-balance was on.

Yep, and they had this "Wait in line" rule too for planes and stuff. Yeah, constant kicking for that too.

I don't remember the server name, but I still got the ip, 70.85.234.202. Avoid that server like the plague.

We have a 1-man locked squad rule. It's a waste of a finite resource to have a 1-man locked squad. So we kick ban appropriately.

There's a fine line between ensuring a fun gaming experience and over-doing admin work. I am always re-evaluating our rules and how we enforce them to see if we've crossed the line. Whenever I think we crossed the line, I bring it up to the owners and let them decide. So far, so good.
