Well... I guess I can't play CSS anymore because for some reason anytime I try to play on any server (I even made my own to see what was going on)... I get some error instantly after joining. Some of you may have seen me trying to connect a few times today... this is why I didn't play. And since Valve is horrible... I am convinced the problem will never be fixed. It was fun while it lasted... but apparently I will have to go back to playing Red Orchestra :\.

What error msg are you getting? What does your console say when you fail to connect?

I have no idea... most of the time after I hear the Windows BEEP noise... I hit enter (ctrl alt del does nothing... only enter) it goes back to desktop and there is no error message... but one time I caught a glimpse of a message but couldn't read it in time because it was gone way too fast.

I have tried nearly everything I can and nothing has worked :(.

Has anything recently changed on your computer? New video drivers, change of display resolution perhaps?

Is there anything is your steam.log file? It's located in C:\program files\Valve\Steam

Don't give up man, let's see if we can work through this problem.

The "Told to exit" is the only thing in my steam log file that looks suspicious.

Only thing that changed on my PC recently was a new mouse I bought yesterday (Sunday)... but I was playing it all day yesterday after I got it and had no problems... so I wouldn't think that is it.

Is the problem only with CSS? Do you have an autoexec.cfg in your cstrike folder? If so, maybe try renaming it and reconnecting to the server... perhaps you have a setting that the game doesn't like.

I'm also going to PM you my email address. Go ahead and log out of steam, rename the current steam.log file, startup steam and try to recreate the error. Then email the new log to me.

Yes... only in CSS (well... HL2 SP works fine... will check HL2DM in a few minutes).

Well... just a few minutes ago I finally got on the server... everything was good... well not really... a few seconds after I died somebody shot somebody else... and then I heard the gunshot sound repeating constantly and NOTHING got me to desktop... I had to completely restart the computer. I give up all hope on this because I know valve will do nothing because they can't do anything correctly :\.

From what I hear, that's a pretty common problem. In fact, I've had it quite a few times since the HLDM STEAM update.

Here's the Valve Answer (http://steampowered.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=150&p_created=1093320749&p_sid=xmmhnWsh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX 3Jvd19jbnQ9NiZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPXNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3B yb2RfbHZsMT0mcF9jYXRfbHZsMT0mcF9jYXRfbHZsMj0mcF9wY WdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1yZXBlYXRpbmc*&p_li=)
