View Full Version : PRMM .3 maps to keep...
Ok guys, to keep our thoughts in one consolidated thread about the maps.
Based on the maps we have played so far which maps should we keep, which one should we shit can, and which ones should keep an open mind about.
So far I don't really care for the single objective ones, Gulf of Oman, Mashtuur city, and Sharqi.:thumbsdown:
Jabal is too big, and there is about Muutrah city (can't put my finger on it) I don't like.:thumbsdown:
With out a doubt that Jungle fever should be added a few times.:thumbsup:

junglefever ftw. I dont know the names, but jeah, the objectives in sharqi mastuur and gulf are boring. think small maps would be the best.

I like the night maps very much! I am so excited that they implemented night vision into a mod other than one you have to buy! As for the maps, yeah, single objective sucks b/c the other players dont' know what to do at times :( I say keep Extraction/AAS modes
Don't know the maps so well yet b/c I haven't played too many, but I really liked Jungle Fever. Also, I think we should run two rounds, and switching teams.

Switch teams, yes! As for maps...i could go without the vanilla maps. regular strike, mashtuur, oman, etc. I like the mod's maps better and here's why...In BF2 the grasslands are sparse on the grass, the forests are sparse with trees, and the cities are pretty sparse on the buildings too.
I love when there's tall grass and trees, cant tell where anyone is. If you're taking fire and you cant see from where just run zig zag through the grass till you trip over them.

my list of prioritized suggestions for better game play for our battle arena prmm .3 are:
1. 2 rounds per map, teams switch sides every round. this will eliminate one team dominating, or it seams to.
2. keep the night maps separated so we dont have 2 or more night maps in a row. (i personally enjoy the night maps, but if most dont, maybe they should be shelved or minimized)
3. in the lineup put a higher percentage of extraction maps in than already exists. i dont think there is much more than 3 extraction maps. so maybe throw some extras in. i really like the extraction modes.
4. also throw in extra jungle fever maps. hard to get enough of that. is pretty intense map.

After playing a lot in the past two days, here are my conclusions:
Jabal: Great looking map, not enough vehicles for US, or too long of a spawn time! There should be two little birds and one blackhawk, or seriously shorten the spawn time, the US can lose the dam flag VERY quickly if they can't get there! I have never made it to the city to fight it there, but I have heard that it is intense when you do, I hope they fix it....(hmm...wonder if we can edit the files for this ourselves without screwing up the server? Wait and see if indeed the ABR is broken by patch 1.3 first I guess)
Karkand: great as AAS, bad as extraction!
Single Objective modes: VERY BAD!!!
Normal Conquest: VERY BAD!!! I will play vanilla if I want that.
Jungle Fever: Awesome map!
DEFINITELY need to have the teams switch b/c the MEC guns SUCK!

when you say normal conquest, do you mean the non-push conquest maps. if so i generally agree with all of your assessments. i enjoy the pushmaps. the firefights are good. also there is a chess quality to playing now. there are strategic as well as tactical components. ie. leapfrogging squads at front line hot spots to set yourself up for the next takedown etc.

I say drop the karkand (night or day) extract maps in lieu of AAS karkands.

AAS is a push map right? were you need to capture the points in the right order?
if so, I like this very much..are we sure we will take out all single objectives? well, when I think of it, jeah, they suck....

I read some of the comments there and it sounds like they hate it cause their computer cant handle all the grass. That sucks for them, but it aint the maps fault. If they had a better comp they would see the light.
I like the team switching idea, but not because the mec weapons suck, but rather because the mec weapons rule!

Is there some site where i can see the maps? I hardly pay attention to the names so i am of no help.

they are all saying its laggy? I didn't notice a thing with my poor computer, I always have like 30-40 fps :thumbsdown:
maybe they could have done some better colours for the plants and stuff, but the tactical part off it is just awsome.

Alright, i've got at least one suggestion. I was trying to find a map list with some pics so i knew which was which, but i found the battlefield 2/mods/pr/levels folder and i think we should try adding jabal back, BUT make it a 16 player map! check out the setup on the 16 player version:

It looks like there would be some good fighting in the city. I hope you can change just one map to a 16 player size.

Yeah, that 16 player one might work better.
Could we try El Alamian? It is a push map, but it looks like and armor and jet map.

That's anegative on El Alamien! One of the most boring maps I've ever played. That map almost made me stop playing PRMM.
Nightshift is going to get the boot too. We went from a full server down to 30 or less when that map comes up. Then when the map after Night Shift comes up, the server fills back up again.

Hooray, that map was lame. I still wana try out that 16 player version of jabal just to see that map's city even if we only get 100 tickets. I think that should be done for some other maps too so they arent mind numbingly boring, but we still get to enjoy the change of scenery.

nightswift comes by killing my comp as the people turn invisable when i hit that map maybe that happens to others too and thats why they leave.

As far as the rotation goes, i have a suggestion. Last sat night i was playing with only 4 people and then jimmy left so there werent enough people for a game so i bailed, but i came back after i ate dinner to find a nearly full server. I know it filled up on one of the maps after jabal 16 in the rotation so it was after security area and jabal. It filled up some where between jabal and muttrah or on muttrah itself. I think it filled up on muttrah, although i wasnt present to witness it, because it got the mst votes in the "favorite map" poll on the PR website. If this is the case i suggest that it be placed first in the rotation for two reasons. The first reason is the one i've already stated, which is that it is a popular map and might work to draw in a crowd so i can play some prmm on WiH. The second reason is because of the known crashing issue it has. Since it's third or fourth in the rotation, it kills the server's population because it resest on the security map which isnt the map the people joined for originally. The first map ought to switch places in the rotation with muttrah city if there's any hope of reviving the server before new content comes out for PRMM after they patch to 1.4
