just giving some info, but am not very well versed with this stuff.

my temps never get above 90 f. so i personally would be alarmed at 129f, whether or not that really matters.

after i upgraded ram and video card my computer started running significantly hotter and i had to add an external fan into the mix to keep it cool.

so good luck. right now the side of my case is off with a 9 inch fan blowing directly into it. its not pretty but it stays cool. didnt have to do this until after the upgrade.

make sure your power supply has enough balls to power the new video card and all the other crap too...

54 C is pretty high for the CPU even over clocked, though i would check the fan and the connections also, extra venting would be cool too, i keep the side off mine now, i over clock on stock cooling my 3ghz p4 to 3.3ghz, and cannot go higher due to my ram not baing able to take it.... though my temps never exceed 45 C

also check for a bios update the system maybe reporting the temp incorrectly.

if you do know for a fact that the temps are fine, then you can disable the alarm and rebootin the bios, but i would not recommend it unless you are 100% sure that the tenos are fine and the m/b is reporting badly.

My temp gets about that high on occasion. Does the computer freeze freeze or does it just reboot itself?

I also agree about checking the PSU to make sure it has ample enough power.

Also, since you say you are running 3 gigs of ram, I am assuming you are running them in all 3 slots?

Unless you are running a 1 gig and 2 gig stick. If you have memory in all 3 slots take them out and only run memory in the 2 blue slots and see if that resolves the problem. Make sure the memory in those slots are the same timings

Also stating what kind of memory you are using and if they are all the same brand / timings would help. If they are different timings that could also cause lockups.

yes there in all the 3 slots all the same brand ,timing of ram bought(3 sticks of 1 gig ram) them all at the same time of my upgrade
also i rechecked my temps

cpu 50/122 c/f

mb 29/84 c/f

and my power supply is a 480w power supply

Who is the manufacturer of your power supply?

I would seriously try removing one of the gig sticks (black slot) and keep the 2 in the blue ones and see if that doesnt help.

Just out of curiosity what are your temps at idle?

It could also very well be the fan going. Check in bios if the fan rpm's really fluctuate alot over about a 15 to 20 minute interval

ill try doing what you suggest and those are my idle temps

WOW!! What are your temps under full load then??

If that is your temps at idle, you're overheating your computer and it will lock wether it is your fan not working or not. I would at least take the side off the case and let it air out. You will need install better fans and make better "air currents" across your components, otherwsie you'll be looking at replacing everything.

I agree 100%, those temps are super high at idle, but if the fan is on its last leg, it would also cause overheating issues as well. I tend to agree that it could be a combination of things including lack of airflow through the case.

thanks guys im heading out today to buy new fans and a house fan to help with the air flow.

Those are much better, the key was getting the cpu temps down and you managed to do that. Are you still locking up now?

After this last patch, I've noticed a lot more crashes to desktop while playing BF2, but it is not locking up the system. If it is still locking up the system. May need to consider: Bios settings (IRQ"S etc with new video card, drivers), Power supply (not enough watts for system or unbalanced load especially if using 2 cards in sli mode, and poosibly the motherboard going bad. :wallbash:

Also try getting underload temps.

You might want to try removing all the ram and start with a single stick (I would use the one you removed from the black slot the first time, you may have a bad stick of ram, and it's obvious it isnt the one in the black slot since it still locked up after you removed it) I would also seriously look at the power supply, not sure how much ram you were running before but 3 gigs will draw some volts and a new vidcard would add to that draw.

Do you have any other games such as CSS. Try running something other than BF2 or Oblivion (that isnt as resource intensive) and see if it still locks up if it does I would try to download Prime95 and run that to see if it locks up, if so that completely eliminates the vidcard from the equation as that is a ram/cpu only test.

It works It finaly Works!!!!!!!!!

Replaced the power supply with a 550W Nikao power supply and man does she fly.........

Thanks too DemonJester,Buckski,papasan9 and Ruci for your help i hope too see you around some other server....(not allowed in WIH anymore) peace guys and thx again!!!!!!
