huh. i left my comp on over night to down load it the hard way. So i get up this morning and it's done. huray, right? wrong. i go to unrar (is that the term now days? im so use to saying "unzip") it and i get a few errors saying something about corrupt data.
first when i open the rar file it says "C:\use_0.1_client.rar: Unexpected end of archive"
then after it finishes unraring it says both "C:\usi_0.1_client.rar CRC failed in USI.rar. The file is corrupt" and the first error message that i got when i first opened up the file.
Anyone getting this same problem or should i just wait for the ftp link and d/l it again from there?

Yeah. I just hope drayu tried to unrar it before uploading it, cause if he didnt and he gets the same error he'll be super pissed for having spent all that time doing it for nothing.

Ok, I unzipped my version, and it was fine. The only thing is that when you unrar it, it doesn't give you an "install" file. It gives you 4 files, you have to click the USI.exe file and it will install it (was a first for me).

I first created a new folder on my desktop, the clicked the link. It said "where do you want it?".

I clicked on the folder.

Instantly, the progress bar window opened, with the proress bar totally full and then it didn't do anything.

It created a file, but not one of value.

I deleted the folder and tried again.

The exact same thing happened again.

A complete progress bar appear instantly when I clicked it.

After download just click on the usi.exe.exe file. It should do all the rest for you.

I put it into a file first and got it to work. Papasan just clicked on the .exe at first and it worked for him.

I also had to get into the game from the desktop icon it created instead of opening BF2 and changing the game that way.

wow. the gameplay is much more interesting, the sounds make it feel more realistic, and what cool visiuals. like the chainguns on the aircraft when hitting targets, all exploding with sparks.

after its downloaded then double click on the downloaded .rar file. when youdo that it will show you the 4 or 5 folders/files. just double click on the usi.exe.exe. it should start to install from that point.

Heres what I have to say

All the shooting sounds are louder and when the A-10 flys by you might fall out of your chair..

The sniper rifles are inacurate ATM

The engineer has a personal AA instead of the mines

Theres only a couple actual new guns the rest are just differnt looking pistols


The air support as a whole is MUCH more deadly but at the same time it's MUCH harder to control them...

The Su-25 has 25 missles just like the atk helis and it also has 6 bombs..
The cannon on it is like the A-10 and tears apart anything, it's so good they didnt bother adding missles

The atk heli piolet has a missle like the bomber gunners do in vanilla plus the 25 missles and room for about 5 people


Alot of the vehicles drivers dont get the guns, they are in the 2,3 positions, it'll more than 1 guy- requiring more teamwork

we were playing with the developers last night and they said that they had messed with the sniper weapons but forgot to fix what they had done and didnt finish. so the sniper weapons are next to useless until the next patch.

Overall I say it is pretty impressive for an initial release. Radio chatter adds some nice atmosphere, but gets repetitive real quick. Minor complaint though.

Vehicles are pretty cool and I gotta say the A-10 is pretty sweet. After seeing up close the damage that thing does on a strafing run, I'm going to run for my life the next time I hear that thing rolling in on me!. :icon_eek: I'm glad I got a little seat time in tonight, because there is going to be a line for that sucka. The fire and forget missles for chopper pilots are pretty slick too.

I'd still like the choice to have the weapon unlocks, but the weapons for ground pounders pack more punch, which is nice. There must be some trick to cycling thru the sabot/heet tank rounds, I was never sure if I had cycled thru properly (my 'f' key) and I sure as $%$# couldn't figure out how to pop smoke... :dunno:

A refreshing change of pace and well worth the download. :xyxthumbs:

Couldn't help myself downloaded the MOD which took all of 20 minutes a little slow. Starting playing a little just to take a look at it and before you know it I was late for work. after clicking activate in the community tab you computer should close BF2 and reopen it as USI.

Changing terains to the medium setting fixed my crash problem but it also causes problems with lag and loading time, so if I can't use terain on low soon I'm going to remove the mod

This is what happens to me. So I have to get into the game by clicking on the desktop icon.

IF you didn't check the box for a desktop shortcut all you have to do is create your own. If yours is in the default install location (c:/ drive) then use this:

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/usi +ignoreAsserts 1

If it isn't in the default location then change it appropriately. Now that you have a desktop icon you should be good to go. I hate desktop items, so I dragged my shortcut into the start menu.

uncheck EVERYTHING but SAME MOD...

that sux about the medium settings thing. i am fortunate enough to be able to run stuff in high, and its all very attractive looking. i really like this mod. i kept standing and staring at the hind skin.

looks pretty, flies like crap and is easier to "smash" then a wine glass.

AH-64 VS MI-24

ALLWAYS = in that mod

AH-64.

same with all head to heads in that game, pretty much no matter what the US equipment seems better, mp5 is a cannon, m16 is insanely accurate, same with m4, m1 can pick the eyes off flies, AH-64 can hit targets exceeding 400m with the AT missile not to mention out fly everything and has more FFAR rockets then the hind AND more AT rockets(hind has 2 sets of rocket pods, but still has the same or less ammo).

i find it's too biased.
