The thread rating is different than reputation. Thread rating is what you think of the topic, the thread. Is the topic useful? Funny? Dumb? Useless crap? Make your feelings known by giving it a 1-5 star ratings. Thread ratings does not give points to anyone.

Reputation is what you think of the poster's message. Was the poster rude? Was the poster an ahole? Did he posted in a adult manner? Things like that should get an approve/disapprove rating. The poster will get points added or subtracted to his reputation scale according to the feedback you give.

Hope this helps clarify the two for everyone.

You should be able to see the little green dots under the poster's post count.
