So lately I've been toying around with TrueCrypt and Password Safe (open source encryption tools) with the idea of storing all my important passwords electronically.

Out of sheer curiosity, has anyone else toyed with a combination of these two specific tools?

More importantly, has anyone managed to break a combination of these two tools? (or one or the other for that matter)

While I'm not too terribly concerned at the thought of someone gaining access to my passwords (I'm not incredibly rich, in fact, I have very little to lose) I'd like to be at ease when storing passwords, especially in a mobile format.

As shown by our site transformation......

OpenSource is just that. OPEN.

While it is probably safe, I wouldn't use it on any national secrets.

I just saved this html page to my hard drive, and use it.

http://angel.net/~nic/passwd.html

so basically, you can have just one password, and it generates different passwords based on what your entered.

Or you could use Firefox and let it remember all your passwords.

the whole point of doing this is to keep passwords from being remembered in insecure locations (i.e. within Firefox).

If I were to use this webpage tool, I would be scouring my cache religiously to clear any trace or mention of the master key or subsequent keys.

Using the encryption methods I originally planned to use, I would have my passwords secured in a dual-volume drive locked by strong encryption and subsequently protected inside a password database.

What are you trying to hide? Some good porn? If that's the case, good porn should be shared with your fellow WiH'ers.
