Forum oddities

Since this is a new forum for many of us, please post any problems/oddities that you notice in this thread so we can investigate them.

Is the webpage refreshing itself, or updating whos online? I seem to have a lot more lag spikes with the new forum in the background when I am playing then the old one. http://www.wdisneyw.com/forums/images/smilies2004/slap.gif

The forum updates who's online every so often. question is why do you have this open when playing online? You should close all apps when playing online to minimize any sort of lag.

I actually have a couple of questions. First where are the smilies for that you put in the post? I can't find em. Also, what is the little scales that say add to [username]'s reputation all about?

smilies aren't working right now bc we don't have the graphics load in yet.

The little scales are for reputation. You can rate another user from their actions in the forums. You approve or disapprove them. However, it's not as simple as you think it is. In order to affect their reputation, you must have X amount of reputation points. In order for you to get reputation points, admins must approve of your actions, therefore adding points into your bucket.

keep in mind, this not different than rating a thread. Rating a thread is just showing you like the thread or you dislike a thread.

How can you tell which are the most recent threads. ie those that you have read, but new posts are in them.

I know it has something to do with the colored envelopes, but help a bear out. :)

A little legend or something, unless there already is an I missed it.

Also, when you first log in to http://www.warishellgaming.com , you are at your home page which also list the latest recent posts for you to see.

You lost me. how is this an oddity or bug?

when you click the archives link on the main forum index it tells you only admins are allowed to access it.

And when you go into the archives the style of the pages is different.

Will a "mark all read" button be getting added?

I haven't ran the maintaince utility to load up the search index yet. Sometime this week.

It allows you to tell when youre buddies are in the forums and online. I think then you can send messages back and forth thru the forums. I think...

They dont work from Tigra, they do work from the default skin.

The NAV bar shouldn't even be there. I set it in vBadvance to not display that. I'm not sure why it's still displaying it for the Tigra skin....

I just saw your above post, maybe that is why I get the
Not Found

The requested URL /search.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I miss the bar at the left side to navigate. on the front page it shows up, but while I'm in the forums its gone...

and maybe we can get the dark blue background back?

and on the top something else then VBULLETIN...

its just all new and I will need to get used to it

There isn't one right now. I want to make it so that when in the forums and you click the vBulleting image on top left, it'd take you back to front page. But I haven't figured that out yet. I think I have to hack some code.

I take that back. There is a link to take you back. It's down at the bottom right of the screen. "War is Hell Gaming" link will take you back to front page.

It could very well be hardcoded into the skin header, since it appears the links are set correctly in the menu on the left but not in the header menu (at least on Tigra, thanks Snake!) and they should both be using the forum template variables.

If you go into the templates in tigra just look for the header template, in there you will probably see the header nav hardcoded and you can also change the link for the header graphic so it points to the frontpage as you would like.

about how to make the vBulletin a link to the frontpage...

you will need to find it in the html code. think just in the beginning of the <body> it is probably just an <IMG> so if you put <a href="http://www.warishellgaming.com/home"> ...tag for img...</a> around it it will work I think...

I dont know much about the CSS settings, but maybe it is usefull to make a stylesheet fot is so you will see a hand appearing but no color changes or form changes...

but ofcourse you probably know all off this already...:wallbash:

For the default style, I hacked the template so that when you're in the forums, you'll see a Home link on top left. If you're at the Home page, you'll see a Forums link. But this only works with the default theme.

Does the search function work? I was looking up the CSS tweak guide for spy assasin and i couldnt find the thread that contained it using the search. It was posted quite a while ago, but i some how remembered that the title contained either the word "tweak" or "guide" in it. I searched for both of those words maually with no luck. I started digging through the forums manually and sure enough, look what i found: http://www.warishellgaming.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4830
I am even using the advanced search with the following settings: search titles only, search posts from any date, with at least 0 replies, in the CSS forums with no matches.

Is it just me, or did the font change? I didnt change a thing so if it's just me im crazy. Im using the tigra skin...if that makes any difference.
OK, i just opened a new window and the font is normal in that window and to prove im not crazy, i took pictures.

That's a known problem. I haven't had a chance to look into that one yet. it's on my to-do list though. :thumbsup:

Woot! At least there is one. I hadn't found it until you told me where it was. My bookmark is for the forums and to back out to the homepage I was changing the address manually.

Not a big deal, but I thought it was odd not having a homepage button.

can the new css server's ip be put in the css TS server description? My favs still dont work and since i have yet to remember the new ip, i keep having to open up the site and grab it off there.
