I've got a Shuttle PC that I use in my entertainment center. Makes a great up-coverting DVD player, jukebox, etc. It's an older one though so it lacks the power to do a lot of the high def stuff I'd like to do with it (Athlon XP 1800, 512 RAM, 6600gt).

They're neat little toys and would be great for someone that wants a PC that just works, i.e. not likely to tinker with it or upgrade. Due to the size, there's not a whole lot of wiggle room in there.

I guess the MBs are going to be different.....

So I would need the case

MB
Memory

Network card.
HD

power box?
CD drive...

Anything else im missing?
Is it cheaper to build one of these things?

I like that case... as for MoBo, that have Nvidia chipsets... dont need a video card, unless gaming is required... 1 gig of memory or 2(I recommend) a HDD, DVD Drive, I priced it out around 700 for me, but that is using stuff I have, and upgrading my current pc :D

It is always cheaper, unless you get a good deal.

Here is one idea as well:

Well, this is about the absolute cheapest I could come up with on newegg:

Case/PSU/Mobo/Audio/Video/LAN - $169.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16856101482

Processor (64-Bit Celeron D @ 2.66GHz) - $66.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819112206

Optical Drive - DVD+-R - $35.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16827152059

SATA 80GB Hard Drive - $53.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822135106

1GB RAM, PC3200 - $66.25
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820145440

TOTAL: $391.23

I find it funny that some of these little things support SLI. I'd like to see a liquid-cooled one, just 'cause it'd be the most ridiculous looking thing ever. :jester:

If what you're after is a just a cheap PC, micro ATX is not the way to go. I'd look into getting something like an eMachines... I grabbed one of those about a year ago for $150 or so (after lotsa rebates.) Fry's Electronics has a PC for (their GQ desktop) for $270, too. Just a thought.

Geeze why didn't ya just say good-n-cheap. I thought you were looking for small, LOL. :D

Man the cheapest I can find is a PowerSpec @ $249 and thats with Linspire OS 5.0. Of course if you have an OS you could remove the current OS and put Windows on.

I sometimes see these down to a flat $200 at MicroCenter but again thats with the Linspire.

This is pretty hard to beat for $300 also at MicroCenter.com
