BF1942 EOD nite?

I'm itching to play Eve of Destruction again. Are they any interest in playing EOD for a nite? I can turn off the Battle Arena server to setup a WiH EOD server for a nite so we can have some 1960 Vietnam action.

I'll need about 20 people to sign up to make this worthwhile for me to spend the time in doing this.

Same here. Install. Download patch. Download EOD .46. Then we'll be ready to "rockin' from the Delta to the DMZ!"

Girlfriend made me clean up my computer area. Went through it cleared out games and other things that I no longer used.

I needed to buy a new copy of 1942 anyway. My original key got stolen, plus I never bought the last expansion.

i bought it new for $15 bucks last october at hastings i think. shouldnt have to pay more than $15 now. i will gun for your crotch, i want to hear those 60's rockin in the door. ok, i am stoked now. forgot about all of that cool stuff. even tho its perormance isnt great, am excited about the m-14. has been a while.

redish and i would be at every mod night, regardless of the mod. i think i can get modular, deathfrager and papa_duece also to be there.

Yikes, I would have to find my BF42 disc and reinstall. After my reformat in January, I never put it back on my machine.

I haven't played anything with '42 in probably six months.

I may have to plug in my old X45 for this fun......there is no better rudder control than the rudder rocker on that throttle! The X52's stick twist for rudder just angers me :(

I've got the server installed and will need to configure it tonite. Having some issues with the admin tool connecting. I want to make this happen soon as I'm going to be busy for the next 2 weekends and I don't want to wait that long to play EOD!

i was just checking out the server and cannonfodder came on. name sounds familiar, anyway, i think 2 more have been recruited for friday night. he sounded real nice. we might even fill up the server. once 15 or more get on, all theother people surfing for an eod server to play in might join. i have seen pockets of people here and there.

anyway, server is running well and lots of maps i havent seen before. should definately be interesting.

fyi, i will be on thursday night around 7cst to give the choppers another whirl and figure fire zones for mortars before friday.(if anyone wants to join)

I agree on that! I still think that EOD did good, especially when you have few hp's left and you lose rudder control! GOOD STUFF! Took skill to keep it alive when you had nothing left!

BUT....I think the best physics are the DC physics!!! There was no auto hover like EOD/POE/BF2, you had to be able to control it! You were able to, more so than in any other mod, come in fast and flare back to a complete stop and take off again almost on a dime....something you can't do in BF2.

exactly, i have been playing with the choppers for two nights and still am having a problem slamming into the ground for a landing. way more skills needed.

and yes, nothing beats that m60 sound. man it is awesome. really throaty, sounds like it actually has bite. great, hope to see some of you tonight as well as tomorrow night.

I logged on the server last night and practiced :D alot!!!!!

I loved flying those things... I still can do the dog(360) roles in the apache on DCF :rockon: use to make timberwolf sick to his stomach!

I used to do the "elevator to hell" move in the choppers. This is where when you need to drop alt fast. Cut the collective, go into a dive, pull the nose up, flare hard, stabilize and come to a hover 5 feet off the ground.

I had created this little guide when we were playing EOD and DC back in the day. It is part of a larger download that I created for Saitek Customers, but the part that might help you Chopper Jockey wannabes is:


Hints on helicopter flying:

1. Get in chopper and set your throttle to hover. This may take a few tries, but you will eventually figure out where it is. Every chopper is different and a perfect hover isn't always achievable, so a slow increase in altitude while hovering isn't all that bad.

2. Once in the air use the W and S keys for altitude.

3. Once in the air. use the A and D keys for rudder control.

4. Practice Practice Practice.


Flying this way may seem stupid seeing you own a throttle, but for chopper flying, it is a WHOLE lot easier and you have WAY more control! Give it a try and you will see what I mean. One time of trying doesn't equal giving it a chance, give a few times.

There's no in-game VOIP guys. So get into the "Mod of the Moment" TS channel when you guys are online. Both sides will be in the same channel so communicate w/o revealing your true intentions. This simulate the fact that the US and Vietnamese often listen to each other's communications over the air.... Yes that's it... :)

I would love to say it would be me, since i love to knife people in other games, but being as i will be completely new to the game, i'll probably be the one getting knifed left and right.

does 1942 come with a manual or is there one online i can look over? and perhaps there's an online manual for EOD as well? I just want to be abreast of what im supposed to be doing. Coming from bf2 is going to be strange. Ill probably end up feeling it out like i do with console games, press a button and see what it does.

I suggest that you set everything that you can in BF1942 to be the same as BF2....makes for the transition to be easier!

adding to drayus advice, dont worry about the manual, it all works the same, just less feedback systems like hit indicators, 3dmaps etc. otherwise, stuff works the same.

the stuff thats most different is mod side. like when you get into a vehicle it puts you in the seat position most close to you when you got in, so you have to push 1 to get to the drivers seat most of the time.

you have to manually reload weapons and it takes way less hits to die, so get used to the idea of being killed and not knowing where it came from. also, the mod has split up most of the vehicle systems, so many vehicles really need at least two people for driving and gunning or spotting etc.

That's hilarious, it reminds me of the first time i went back to counter strike after playing BF2 for like 3 months straight. the shift did what you said, i was trying to point out enemies with q, which is your previous weapon button in CS. Ill just stay in my CSS mind set when runing for my life.
wait if you run normally and walk only when you hit a special key, does that mean there's no stamina bar as in cs?
