WiH Battlefield 2 server

We are happy to announce that when Battlefield 2 demo and/or game comes out, War is Hell will have a server in place for our members to play in. We are actively pursuing obtaining resources in order to have the best Battlefield 2 server possible at lauch time!

I have to say that once BF2 comes out, as long as the majority of WiH buy it and play it, I think I will be officially done with Counterstrike for a while. Ive never played Battlefield 1942 or Battlefield Vietnam, but looking at these screenshots I was drooling.

Can someone please tell me if this plays anything like Counterstrike? In refernece to speed of player movement and the way weapons fire. I know it plays like a domination amp already.

If you want to get an idea of what BF2 will be like then get on our POE server. You'll need Battlefield Vietnam and the POE mod. I would suggest you practice with this before diving into BF2 IF you want to get started with a leg up. Check out the POE thread for good info on this.

Cool! Go into the POE teamspeak channel sometimes and listen in on the chatter. You'll be surprised as to how much teamwork goes into a battle of that scale when there are 16 vs 16.

Our idea is to have a 32 players server first and see how it runs. If it runs good, then we slowly bump up the player limit.

Well, maybe it was realistic and I just lagged like crazy because it seemed to me that any kill I got with a hand held gun was pure luck.

this is actually very realistic, the accuracy of any hand gun, (or rifle for that matter) you shoot while moving let alone running is very low most pistols have no accuracy from beyond 25 yards having fired numerous pistols and rifles in the marines, i qualified as expert (highest) which is not hard with m16a2 but very difficult with beretta or colt. the only exception being the desert eagle that frickin gun ROCKS that gun would hit from 50 yards no problem.

I have a question uh will the servers add to our BF 2 stats? Cause I would like ot play on the WIH server sine yall are my buds but I also want to get me some unlockable and can only do taht by gaining rank. :dunno:

Unfortunately our servers are not approved by EA to be ranked. We have been trying very hard to get our server ranked, but each and every avenue we tried was a dead-end.

Go play on ranked servers to get your unlockables. Come back to WiH BF2 server for the team-play and the smacktard free environment.

I just want to make sure everyone understands that we are not approved by EA because we do not rent our servers from EA which is currently the only way to get ranked (unless someone at EA is willing to take a bribe). In anticipation of BF2, rather than rent a shared BF2 server from EA, we decided to upgrade one of our servers with a blazing fast, mac-daddy configuration that should allow our BF2 server to run ever so smoooooooth.

To echo what wihadmin already said, we will work to keep our BF2 server up to WiH standards by admining it appropriately in an effort to provide a teamplay and smacktard free gaming environment. Additional admins will most likely be needed for our BF2 servers and we'll be monitoring our BF2 AND teamspeak server for candidates.

We need everyone's help to get the BF2 server established. As many of you know, it's the regulars who play here that make WiH what it is. I'm sure many of us will most likely play on ranked servers in the beginning, but the owners ask that you also spend some time on the WiH server so we can differentiate ourselfs from the other smacktard servers and hopefully bring some new players to our community.

Welcome to the forums btw Shansui. I see you on our CSS server regularly and I'm glad you joined us in the forums and soon on the BF2 server.

One thing is for sure. When it's WiH regulars vs WiH regulars in POE or BF2, the battle is going to be intense and co-ordinated! When it's WiH regulars vs. the world, 9 out of 10 times, we pwned them.

I'll be playing with you guys but i will also be doing the EA server thing because well I want my unlockables. Which reminds me I heard somewere that in non EA servers the admin can decide if people can use the weapons they have unlocked. So if this is the case will the WIH servers allow us to use stuff we unlock?

I say screw playing on the other servers. I really don't understand what the big deal about the unlockable weapons is. I would rather have my good ol Marine Corp issued M249 than some crappy Russian light machine gun, and I'd rather have my M16 than some crappy German or English assault rifle any day. So at least I'll stay true WIH and not go over to the dark side.

Its not really a big deal I'll still play at WIH but I will also play at official servers. ANd I wan't that unlockable shotgun that engineers get :hump: .
