freeze and looping sound

have this problem with CSS, seems to be the sound card. I have an X-fi platinuim. going to try some older drivers and see if that fixes it but if any of yall have any advise....

If the older drivers dont work, just pull out the sound card and try running it with the onboard audio if your board has it.

check to make sure you are not selecting audio options in the game that your card is incapable of.

Also, I would unistall and reinstall the current drivers first. Could just be an error in the driver files. I would do the same check with your BIOs if running older drivers still doesn't work.

Does it happen to you on particular maps? I'm having that same problem on the newer maps (sometimes nuke, but especially militia.) The audio will endlessly loop any time the game stops updating - it does not necessarily indicate an audio problem. I have a hunch that it's video drivers that are causing the problem... do you have ATI or nVidia? Also try turning off HDR if you haven't already.
