Hey folks, my gf actually wants to give FPS games a shot and I was wondering what kind of control scheme I should suggest. My own is custom, I don't play default at all. Anyway, for you more experienced types, what should I look for?

Use the default. That way she can play many FPS without having to re-learn the controls.

WASD = Forward, Strafe Left, Backwards, Strafe Right

Left mouse button to fire

R= reload

E= use

Space= jump

default i think is best though...

I play default controls. Makes it easy to switch from game to game and to let people play on your computer.

If you use defaults, you can always revert to your keyset with the default button.

i play with default controls to give my hands Room To Breathe. dunno whats up with all the weird folks who play with their hands 1/2" apart using keypad and mouse..

I have always whopped people with default keys and still do.
Therefore winner by default!

Edit: I recommend she sits down and plays, and change the settings to what she likes after playing with default.

I have some custom commands and etc, but I still use default too. (WASD, shift to walk.. etc)

Just play with default and have her custom tailor her own crap to what she likes.

I like the keypad. Might have her try that too. You know... less buttons. Don't want to confuse the poor girl.
