On the advice of someone, I tried this scanning program.
After scanning, I thought this was a cool little scanner.
But now I cannot play BF2!!!!!!! Whenever I insert the game discs, it asks me to install the game?!? If I go around the autoplay and double click the icons on the desktop, I can get into the game, but just BFHQ. If I try to get into the server, it crashes me to the desktop.
So I think, I will uninstall and try this again after removing the scanner. But now whenever I use the Uninstall, it asks me the language, the screen blinks, and nothing happens. Its like BF2 and special Forces are not even on my computer!
Help me, so I can kill you!

I didn't install anything else since the Sweeper
And I have never had a problem with CTDs before, except after getting into the server.
Any suggestions?
My best guess would be something that spy sweeper found had attatched itself to a BF2 along the way and so when you removed it there went the BF2 file, I have spy sweeper and havent had any problems with BF2 when I do play(well no problems that are related to spy sweeper)

Well, after having to manually uninstalling the game, I couldn't even use the control panel way of removing the game, something else has happened.
It seems the computer is no longer recognizing BF2. Whenever I try to reinstall, it asks what language, starts the install wizard, the screen blinks, and aborts the process altogether. After tehe blink, I am looking at Windows. Nothing else happens. Somethiing is interfering with the install process of BF2 I guess. I can install other games, but BF2 goes nowhere.
Papasan has suggested a total reformatting and such, but I have never done that before. This computer is three years old and this probably isn't a bad idea.
Anyone have a clue what the problem could be?

Sounds like that anti-spyware software tore up your Windows registry. If you haven't done a format and reinstall in three years, your probably gonna want to do that any way. Microsoft suggests a full R&R every 6 months for 98, 12 months for Win2K, and 12 - 18 months for XP. If your running Windows ME, most Microsoft guys will tell you to switch to 98 or XP.

Its XP.
How hard is that to do? R&R? I have never done it before.

most ad/spyware removers have a restore function. They usually remove files to a quaritine for x amont of time before completely deleting files. I have never used the actual utility you have mentioned, but see it it supports this function.
A reinstall is pretty easy just read before you click. Pretty hard to do any damage since you are wiping everything out and starting over.
You may want to collect your current drivers for your chipset, lan, vid, sound card , etc. before hand. If it is an oem system you will have a disk or a seperate partition to boot from that will contain your originals. If you want the particulars on your chipsets I usually use Belarc Advisor which is free. Just Google it for download. Or check for documentation on the board from the manufacturer. What I mean by praticulars is that you may have a Soyo board with a via chipset and the Soyo site may be a two ar three steps out of date on the drivers whereas Viaarena.com would offer you the most current.
GL hope you get back to the battlefield before withdrawl sets in.
