So last night I went to this place rented out by two of my new friends (who i met through another friend) called the jam space. Pretty much they buy a keg and you can bring your own booze if you want to..and some bands they know come and play there. It's $5 to get in and $5 to drink, but you can drink all you want..or like i said bring your own booze. Part of that look is dust. I was actually smiling a little, but I was still recovering when they took that. The ride over the top is one hairy trail. They actually have a helipad nearby to evacuate people who shouldn't have tried it and wind up down a ravine all busted up. Once you start going up there is no going back and it just gets worse and worse.

Of course I had my Budweiser game face on good before we went up.

I went to a Nevada Land Surveyors meeting once a while back (when I was chaining for a surveyor) and the guest speaker was talking about how similar Afghanistan is to Nevada, Northern Nevada especially.

Seeing that pic really cemented that for me. You could be in the Virginia foothills out here. :D

That was a hell of a fun trip. It actually doesn't look like in that picture, but I'm having the time of my life. I'm just not that much of an outwardly-emotional guy most of the time.

You sure appreciate a soft, warm bed after four days sleeping on the dirt and rocks. You appreciate a nice hot shower after four days of sweating on a dusty trail without a chance to bathe (well, I could have, but that river is about 55 degrees!!). And it's nice being able to just drive places rather than plod.

Nothing like realizing it took you four days to cover a distance that would take less than four minutes on the freeway.

BTW, that hold is the one recommended in a film/book called Happiest Baby on the Block. Good book to help with some ideas on how to calm a crying infant. Highly suggest it.
