If someone just wants to play Source, and not HL2, how much would that cost? Can they just log onto steam and DL it from there?

As far as I know you MUST buy Half Life 2 in order to get Counter Strike Source.

Yah, I went to the Counter Stike website and clicked on the Get Counter Strike now link and it took me to the place to pick what half life 2 package i wanted.

Counterstrike Source is a mod for Halflife 2 basically.. runs on the same engine and even uses stuff installed with HL2 I believe.

He's correct. The MOD may be free (yeah whatever), but you have to pay for the engine :)
