Help with joining the server...

Okay, I keep trying to join the server. It says a slot is free and I load the level. As soon as the level loads it just boots me back out to the main CS:S menu. I was able to join an play for a couple minutes about an hour ago with no problems. I know I have the update.

Somebody suggested that it was because the server was reserving a slot.

It says that there are 32/33 people playing, and so my computer tries to join. Then, after I've waited forever for it to load, it kicks me out. Sometimes it even still gives the "Server is Full" message.

Does anybody know why this is happening?

That is the VIP system kicking in Goose. When you see 32/33, that is a full server. If you get in, you'll get kicked shortly after that.

Okee dokee. With all the problems with the update I was wondering.

My only problem with it is that it makes the Auto-Retry feature worthless, meaning that on a busy night it will be really hard to get on the server.

Nonetheless, now that I know it's not my computer, I shall go try to get on! TALLY HO!

Once we roll out the VIP pass system, then you have an option to not have to wait and always can get on.

Is it always going to be like this? when the VIP system goes live? 32/33 with auto-retry being worthless? Or is there a way to set it to 32 players, with all 32 available to the public? Then kick someone for the V.I.P. (still got mixed feelings about that too.)

While I'm thinking about it. How does the VIP system know who to kick? Is it the person with the least amount of time on the server? Lowest score/highest ping/most deaths........... ????

I believe its just a random kick, no set criteria on who to kick.
