Well, around 6pm est I decided, "what the hell's 30 bucks? I'm gonna go get it" Well, two hours and five stores later, nothing. All copys of BF2:SF are sold out. Anyone else have this problem today? I guess I should have just reserved it. Looks like I'm d/l'ing it from EA tonight.

I got one better. I looked on the internet first to make sure the store had a copy. It said they did go to the store (Best Buy) and couldn't find it. Had someone help me they couldn't find it either. Asked someone else they looked into the computer, it said 25 in stock. She went to the back look for 5 min. and said she couldn't find it. Talked to the manager. He said that they didn't have it out yet and with the after Thanksgiving sale coming up that it might take them two to six hors before they might get it out. Call corp. and they tried to call the store and the store wouldn't answer their calls. I got upset and found it somewhere else. But to be so close and have those lazy asses not even really look or even try upset me to no end. Just had to rant here. I did get 10 dollar gift card from Corp. coming in the mail. But that didn't sooth the pain of having to be in 5 o'clock traffic to go some where else.

Quite a few big retailers didn't get their shipments yet. EA waited until Monday to ship a good chunk of them, so some don't have it yet, but should tomorrow.

I know what you mean Haus, its really upsetting how no one really cares about there jobs or the type of attitude they convey to the their customers anymore. Aside from that, whats the purpose of listing available inventory on a website when its clear that it doesn't exists. The internet is supposed to make things more convienent, not more confusing. I guess as long as people like you are talking about are working that those kind of places Haus, there will be always been that kind of agrivation. I feel your pain.

One Best Buy in Arlington Heights, IL didn't have it on the shelf even though their computer said 25 in stock. Found a cool guy who plays BF2 and had him call another location to find it and put one off to the side for me.
I called a Gamestop and they said they had them on their shelves.
I won't be able to load up SF until after TG holidays. Save my ass from getting shot up for a few days by you guys.

I happen to work at Best Buy, and happened to be working Tues. morning. Tues also happens to be our truck day. With the day after thanksgiving comnig guess what? We are getting an enormous amount of stock coming in. Why's that? Biggest shpping day of the year. So instead of having humdereds of people pissed off that we're out of stock on everything, we have a huge influx of everything we can get our hands on. On a normal tues. we get one semi about 3/4 of the way full (just my store, other stores will vary) Tues morning we had 4 semis 3 completly full, top to bottom wall to wall front to the back doors full) , 1 about 3/4 full. So thats over 300% more work to be done than normal but only a few more(read 5 extra) people on hand to get everything out. They didnt get everything off the truck until around 3-3:30. Then it had to be labeled and put out on the floor. This is all handeld by the inventory people, so the floor sales people wont know when/where aything is in the warehouse. So when they go to the back, the only thing they can do is ask the guys unloading the truck if they've seen whatever your asking for come off yet. If they havn't, there isn't a thing they can do. I'm an employee there and even I couldnt get a copy of SF from them till late that evening. All that to say this:
Congrats on being rude to and insulting someone who actually did try to help in the only way they could. Can't believe you'd be mad when you got a free $10 for being an ass.

Man, Haus, you kind of got angry over nothing. Gumby pretty much put it into prespective of how things work. The only way to really solve this kind of problem is to re-do the way the whole inventory process get's taken care of, and you're not gonna be able to do that unless you were the ceo of best buy.
Anyways, luckily here there's a Gamestop and Toys r us within walking distance of the Best Buy. Usually I'd like to think to myself "Hey, I want a game, I'll go to Gamestop and buy it, because that's all they sell". Yeah right, I've never purchased a game from Gamestop because they have always been out of whatever I need. I usually go to Best Buy first, then Gamestop, and then Toys R Us. It feels kind of weird walking into a kids toy store for video games, but hey, I got my PSP there a few days after it came out. Everywhere else I went told me "It's sold out, you can order one though, we get our next shipment a month from now"
God damn, you bastard Haus, I don't ever get shit when I get angry at places, how did you manage to get $10?

I don't see what the big deal is with the way Haus is acting. It is distrubing to see this corporate trend that is occuring in big business stores like Best Buy. Gone are the days that "the customer is always right" replaced by, "if something goes wrong its gotta be the customers problem" not the employee or the company policies. Now, I wasn't there nor was Gumby. Gumby seems like a rather articulate guy and I'm sure if he explained this to me I'd understand and even appologize to him for taking out my frustrations on him. The fact however is that I have run into alot of so-called customer service/salesman who either don't know anything they need to, can't articulate past basic subject/verb/predicate, or just don't care unless its easy or there is some immediate gradification in it for them. I understand that Gumby is defending what he feels strongly is something more complicated than Haus believes it to be, but if Haus had to hear it from you instead of the saleman, store manager, corp office, and from the store who never return their call back then something is obviously wrong. It appears Gumby, that you are the only Best Buy employee who was doing their job, even if you weren't on the clock.
OH!!! and BTW, I GOT A COPY TODAY AT GAMESPOT!!!! WOOHOO!!!!! See you on the battlefield tonight :ak:

I think maybe i did overreact(my apologies), but I've been in retail for so many years I'm just used to people blowing up over nothing then blowing out the first employee they can find. Maybe the people did their job, maybe they didn't, I wasn't there as deathcar says, my main point was that if it wasnt on shelves there was nothing the employee he found could do if they wanted to or not. And yeah as sad as it is, "The customer is always right." has been replaced by "If we dont stay on the offensive, we're gonna get sued over anything the customer can find." So far my store has been contacted by 2 different local law firms reperesenting people who are wanting to sue because we are out of 360's. When the bulk of people want to act like this The customer is always right." just doesn't work anymore.

i've worked at best buy for about 14 months, and in retail for about 3 years (its a decent side job for extra cash)
and i have to say... the general customer is a F*CKING MORON!
i mean really, people with half a brain in their head and some respect get all the help they deserve, anyone who comes at me with an attitude immediately and is demanding shit or is trying to act like the master of everything and is constantly making an ass of himself, doesnt get any manner of real help from me, i'll either lie to them and force them to spend extra money, or not help them at all, and i have zero compassion for those people.
but you come in the store, asking politely, admitting to the limits of your knowledge on a subject, and generally just being a good person, and i'll go to the limits of my capabilities to get you everything you need. I've just completely lost any patience for the other type of person, and i compel you to submit any time of argument in their favor.
like the 30 odd people yesterday who came in hours after the xbox 360 launch and dared to voice any type of negativity at us for being out of stock, when people were camping out outside our store for over 24 hours to get them.
there's a reason the weekly ad reads "xbox 360 launch tuesday november 22nd, store opens at 9:00am!! limited quantities!"
but noooo we'll hold a few just for you, because youre special... yeah right.
as far as the not having special forces, you do have to realize this is the week of black friday, so inventory systems are getting screwed, things are being accounted for that arent being shipped, and all other kinds of nonsense.
the true street date in our system at our best buy was monday the 21st... on tuesday it said we had 20, we finally got them on tuesday nights truck, thats why i used EA downloader... you cant blame the help at the store if they actually went back and looked, its not like this shit hides in the store rooms, theres typically full displays for each game upon release, if they actually had it i'm sure they would have found it... and dont forget theres always a competitor, there had to be a local gamestop/eb games/circuit city or other store that would have had it for the same price.
just remember, heated customers get made fun of the most after they walk out of the store :)

I had to go 20 miles to take my daughter to cheerleading after work, and dropped into the EB there and picked up a copy. They had a bunch.
I tried to talk him into selling me some of the kickass shirts his crew had on but he wouldn't bite.
HL2 was one. Nice collared tees. Golf shirts, if you prefer.
I wanted one.
So I'm loaded up. Is there already a patch that I need? LOL

I'm glad you work for Best Buy. I grew up working in fast food and retail since I was 15 and I was brought up with the work ethics that the customer is always right even if their not. It’s the customer that pays your salary. If they don't come in and buy you product, then you don't get paid. The way I was treated by the lower employees wasn't really what got me ticked. It’s the way the management handle the situation. Instead of blowing me off and going about like I wasn't there he could have done things a whole lot better. For instance, he could have looked for himself to see if he couldn't find it. And if he couldn't he could have called another store to see if they had a copy and hold it for me. But to turn your back and walk away is not good business. But what really surprised me was when they didn't even answer when corporate called. In the business was in we would bend over backwards to try and make the customer happy and insure that they would return. Now I know you can't please everyone but you must at least try. Ignoring them is far below standers. Also I didn't ask for the gift card it was offered to me for my inconvince. I was on hold with corporate for 30 min while they tried to call the store with no luck. I'm surprised Best Buy is able to get away with this. The company I worked for would have had huge things to answer for from district manager to the employed itself. But you feel justified in the way they handle then by all means go right ahead. I can tell you one thing my kids will know the right way to handle and work with the public.

If you are questioning how I treat customers, I work two jobs, one I work from 8pm to 5-6:30 a.m. then I work Best Buy usually form around 9-2/3. Goes without saying I'm usually tired as hell when I come to work at Best Buy, yet I've still gotten 3 raises in less than 2 months because more than 6 different people have gone to the length of writing a physical letter and mailing it to the Best Buy I work at about how great I treatd them. That doesn't include the numerous times a customer has asked where my managers was to tell them what a good job I do. However if someone comes in and is being a dick( i.e. Sat. night a guy came in and wanted to return his cell phone. Why? He'd dropped it out his window and run over it. When I told him we wouldn't take it back because he broke it, he took to litterally yelling profanity in my face) they won't get terrble service but I won't bend over backwards to help them out. As far as cusomters paying my salary, I've never seen their sig. on my paychecks. Now for how the manager handled things, as I said in a previous post, I wasn't there so I really can't say one way or another how he handled it but, from what you've said so far, you asked an employee to look, they had no luck, so you go to a manager and he tells you they're on the truck and wont be on the floor for a few hours. Him going to look himself wouldn't have changed matters at all, which he knew, because of how the inv. system works(which I explained previously). About them not calling corp. back, rest assured they'll get their asses chewed out/demoted for that. Hell I get yelled at for not answering the phone at my desk when I'm closing sales with in-store customers. Now if the company you worked for reprimands floorsales people for not answering/calling corp. back as you say, that's just stupid. That's not their job, thats what the manager/cust. service dept. is for. To even gets corps. number I'd have to ask our manager for it.
Once again it, I wasn't there so I really can't make a judgemnt call on how you where actually treated in the store, and I sincerely hope you wern't treated as badly as you seem to think. But, from what you've posted so far it seems like, the employee did their job right, the manager told you he couldn't help you, and you got mad cause you couldn't get what you wanted right that second and had to drive to another store, so you called corp. to complain. and got a free 10 spot. There was no need to post how badly you think you were wronged, or call to question how well I treat customers. As for your children knowing the right way to handle and work with the public, what customers seem to want from best buy is a welcome mat, wearing a blue shit, handing out free cash/product, not an actual employee.

1) He told me it was in the back not on the truck. I know the employee tried to find it but maybe the manager would have more pull with the stocking staff.
2) The manage could have done more, like calling another store to see if they had a copy. Any store I have been will at least do this.
What upset me the most wasn't that they didn't have it but the was I was treated by the manager.
I feel for you holding down two jobs. I know its a lot of work. I also know it gets tiring deal with some people that can be toltal asses. I've had those. But I still try me best to apease them.
