I been noticing that when kirkalnd comes up, 98% of the mercs have to hang aroud the hotel. when it's a well know fact that the usmc is going to go around with a squad and take the suburbs and send a squad, and most times a apc down the right side over the wall by the tracks and take the train wreck and another base and alot of times the uav/radar and arty.
WHY do the mercs have to always stay at the hotel? do ya all need the points that bad?
have a squad guard the tracks and that staircase with some counter amour or/and a couple anti-amour/assualt/medic/resupply guys and have a squad or two swwep back up towards the usmc's main base on the mountain side to counter their sweep down to the suburbs.
Just IMO...

"Don't Ever Join a Non-Ranked Server! - The main goal in life is to have more points than a bunch of faceless 12-year olds on the Internet. How else would people know you're superior to them in virtually every way if there wasn't a giant scoreboard with some numbers to inform them? Refuse to ever play a single game on a non-ranked server, as those points are not officially recorded and therefore are completely worthless and a waste of your time. You know, as opposed to the crucial status symbol a four-digit number on a webserver somewhere represents. Badges are equally important because rumor has it if you get them all, the Army will call you and ask them to personally lead them in the next major world war. You'll get to be a sniper!"

A message never more clearer than this one. I ask myself also, why they all have to hang there, but the POINTS must be somthing.
You all should be playing to be part of a TEAM and not just trying to get points for the next badge or whatever.
POINTS are the GRAVY, but TEAM WORK and WINNING the MAP is the MEAT.
Don't mean to steal thread, but the commander should be directing squads to cover these points, instead of just ARTILLERY, SUPPLY, UAV.

I like yer sig showing off them fancy badges :jerkit:
Ya the point of staying at the Hotel is that on both teams the average player will have more points than they ussualy get and maybe even some awards. Sure staying back would help out more but what about bowling see a higher score just makes you give a little smile

1- JimmytehHand8 - I was talking about this server WIH.
2- mr.hrundi - ECUSE ME!!! so I don't spell so good, do not bad mouth farmers when your mouth is full. :mp5:
:D :D
3- frogbait - Right on, I'm not even worried about making the next level at 20,000, I used to be worried about points, "keeping up with the jones". you could say. I sat back looked at the big picture and relized the same thing you just said. I try my best to help out the squad I'm in to reach our objective and cause as mush hate and discontent within the opfor forces as we can.

thing is that people don't like waiting for enemies to come to them (i.e. defenders waiting on attackers)
People who stay in the front always encounter heavy fire, art, gernades, and lots of enemies which makes it fun.
Usually people in the front lines don't get many points unless they are getting kills. They just want to have fun and have an all out war.
I personally hate when the USMC takes a base thats not the hotel whether I'm USMC or MEC I hate it in either case. Just means no more fun and more running around playing hunter. Boring I rather be in heavy fire.
Reason usually I have the most deaths in a round since I look for the heaviest action and hit it full force.

on one side I agree with EAagent, strike @ karkand is just playtime and always lots of fun, so normally I dont join any squad bc I will let them down. the pts thingy, well, I'm trying to stay ahead of my friend but for the rest I don't need them bc most of the regs know me and don't even look at the score.

I thing this is wonderful idea...especially in organized play. Here on a public server, the best thing IMHO, is to let the chaos take place at the hotel for several reasons.
1. It's a choke point, and the more people there the better, (and I mean in the alleys on both sides near the boundaries too) because that eliminates the need to guard bases in the rear if they can't make it that far.
2. People play Strike at Karkand on 24/7 servers just to get points. If they are point hungry, you have a better chance that they will kill everything.
3. You sometimes have players like myself and Clay-Pigeon (sorry for others I didn't mention) who are willing to hang out on the TOW at Suburbs or watch the water for swimming squad leaders, even C4 the main factory flag and patiently wait for their first victims. I personaly like the extra point you get from killing someone in the vicinity of your flag. Yes I love my points too.
I have said before that the winning combination on any map would be several well equiped patient squads willing to defend and keep a flag. As commander it is impossible to get specific squads to stay at certain flags to defend them.
That was long but I said my piece. :hump:

I hear some of you about wanting to get into the fight for FUN. YES, this game is designed for that, but it also is designed to show you teamwork and as in any game you ever played........try to WIN.
Lots of the old games never gave people the chance to really work as a team per say until now. You can really group up and work together and That is what I like and I think it is what other people are talking about.
REALLY.......if you didn't want to work with people as a team, you could always play single player mode. That is why we like to say helpfull and sometimes complaining things to let people know we care about the game and want some team work.
Still if you are there for the POINTS, that is fine, I feel that if you play the game right the points will come no doubt about it.

I agree, but some people really don't get a bunch of satisfaction from playing against an AI. There is a lonewolf aspect to this game, and teamwork is key. To each his own.

Will in response to the first paragraph, this game is designed to have some teamwork but its also designed for the lonewolf. Reason they have time score for the SM SL CM and LW. Although sometimes you have half the team lonewolf that also doesn't mean automatic defeat. I've had teams that I've had the pleasure of commanding and barely managed to pull a victory 46-0. I've also had squads with basically only 5 squads of 1 member and maybe 1 full squad that doesn't listen and still win can't say a score though.
In response to the second paragraph I agree its the first game that incorporates teanwork and thats great. Love the idea and love how only Commanders and SLs can communicate and so on. Its tight but some people work better lonewolf.
In response to the 3rd paragraph, single player missions in BF2 really suck. I get really bored when I play aganist them. Pretty sure other people are the same. if they wanted to play aganist the AI they wouldn't have bought this game at all. Why buy a game that is designed for multiplayer just to play the single player? People should've waited for COD2 if they wanted to play a sweet single player game.
Last paragraph is true if you defend you will get points especially the defending CP point bonus but its not guranteed. Problem is defending in this game does mean less action. I've played several maps pure defense and it takes a while before I see an enemy. Unless your team is being overrunned easily in the front lines then will the defending team see tons of action since the team is being pushed back.
