so i downloaded sf

because i livin a small town with no gamestop, i decided to download the game as ea is advertising. looks like i downloaded everything except a setup.exe and of course cd key. i didnt open all the folders.

anyway, it has a counter, 2 days and 21 hours. am looking forward to it. it comes out tuesday at noon in my time zone. i think i am going to have to be sick after lunch.

is anyone else downloading this.

yeah, i saw more pics of different maps. one of the maps is a fully interior modelled aircraft carrier with 5 flags to cap on it. that was essentially the whole map. looked pretty cool.

i also am looking forward to see how the cs gas and gas masks affect play. i think that will be interesting.

Yeah, that will make playing inside a carrier more interesting. If the gas is addictive we might get junkies hanging out in confined areas. :azzangel:

I'm with you dos3 and canada,

road to rome was lackluster.

But SF does sound pretty nifty, what with the grappling hooks and zip-lines.

Still, it feels like these are features that could have gone into BF2 vanilla, but which they instead held-back for this expansion.

I want to see what you brave pioneers have to say about SF.

Probably in a week or two....or maybe I'll just go nuts and buy it today :D

Not buying it. I did a good bit of griping on the server when I found out that EA expects players to go up against people with expansion weapons and such -- as far as I'm concerned that's no different than if Blizzard started selling WoW 'lewt' to anyone who'd pay. Just the fact that they didn't allow for 'pure' servers makes it obvious what they wanted to do: kick players in the crotch until they agreed to buy the expansion.

Aside from that though, I don't particularly like EA. There are lots (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/11/11/news_6112998.html) of reasons (http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=53462) why (http://www.hookedgamers.com/forwarder.html?http://www.hookedgamers.com/features/areyouserved/) that is (http://www.gamingnexus.com/Default.aspx?Section=Article&ArticleType=3&OldUID=107), but frankly it's as simple as what happened when I bought BF2. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I had to spend roughly a week personally resolving 3 seperate game-stopping crash/lockup issues before I was able to play. And that afterwards, I had to downgrade my video drivers and disable my onboard soundcard, replacing it with an SBLive I just happened to have, before the performance on LOW QUALITY settings was acceptable. (My Athlon 2ghz XP with 768mb ram is aging, but it can run Half-Life 2 at almost full quality). Then, after they released the patch before this recent one, I discovered that their CD-Key encryption (which for some reason they decided to implement with a patch, as opposed to before release) didn't work for some people like me, and it prevented me from playing the game at all.....AGAIN.....after I had to make it work off the shelf, in the first place. So, after about 4 days on different BF2 forums, finding and trying one solution after another with no results, it hit me........see I had noticed that when the key encryption fails, it erases your CD-key from the registry, but replaces it with the same first 4 characters that people with no problems reported having in their registry, only in their case it's followed by a lot of gibberish that represents their encrypted key. Knowing EA's quality standards, I thought to myself, 'I bet it doesn't even matter if your key is encrypted, it's only a problem because it's erasing my key'. And with that, I pasted my unencrypted CD-key directly after the 4 characters added by the encryption program........I had circumvented EA's CD-key encryption, by replacing it with NON-ENCRYPTED CD-KEY. I thought, after 4 days, to have found such an idiotic solution, that my head might explode.

But I didn't mean to launch into a whole story, so consider it like this: I loved Battlefield 1. I haven't liked an online game that much since 1996 when everyone was discovering this 'Quakeworld' stuff. But after my 'customer experience' with BF2, and as much as I love my playable version of BF2, the only reason I would ever buy anything from EA again is in order to beat someone from EA, about their head, with their own product.

Yea so this sucks my ASS...I started the DL this morning and it isn't done yet...I keep getting errors where I need to restart it and now I'm staring at the downloader and it says I have downloaded 1 gig of 1gig but it has still been going on for at least 30 mins...
