Sniping & Why non-snipers should never shoot

I you are not sniping and come upon a friendly sniper. Please, keep on moving, because if you start shooting you will give his spot away.

Yesterday evening I couldnt get on WiH server, so I go to another server and find the sweetest spot to snipe. It was covering a enemy base and the kills where easy, meds kept reviving, and I have 12 quick kills with the m24 (I like the M24 over the M95).

Next thing I know here comes this supply guy from behind. So good i get ammo. Nope, he hunkers down and starts wailing away with his PKM, then a noob tuber showes up and bam. All hell breaks loose and enemy show up and swarm like flies on dog shyt.

Its bad enough we can never set a claymore up behind us. Nothing like getting knifed in the back.

how about if you are sniping and someone gives your spot away and you die, get another kit and help out. Snipers are the most useless thing in the game. What are you going to do, "spot someone?" woooooooo I spot troops with the end of my barrel and kill them. Snipers think they are helping when they waste 15 secs and 5 bullets trying to kill a guy that ends up running behind a building before they can kill him anyway. Get a real gun and join the team!! Only thing snipers are good for is getting knifing badges!!

hmm.. i almost think that you are trolling for an arguement with this statement there Dinky. Snipers do play an important role in the game as well.. 1 well placed sniper can take out the stationary defenders that mount the AT weapons and AA weapons and try defending the the helos / tanks.. plus I have sniped many a transport pilot as he is coming in to grab a flag thus bringing the chopper down to th eground making it easier to kill..

Each role is important in this game.. to say one sucks cause you do not like it is not needed.. i could very well say that the medic sucks because most of the people i have seen playing them keep trying to revive when your both being fired on from a tank a few feet away or they ignore the threats on foot around you and end up getting you both zapped.. but i dont say anything casue there are those people that can excel at a particular class and play it extremely well.

1 sniper can't do all of that at 1 time. no sniper can do all of that in 1 map. like Darkness said, UAV makes you sitting ducks. the fact that every sniper stays in 1 place until they die (moving a few feet to hide behind a different tree is not moving) makes them easy to find.

I have been killed by snipers a couple times, end each time after I die I look at the game stats, I ALWAYS have more kills and more team points then the sniper that kills me. Because snipers SUCK!

..i could very well say that the medic sucks because most of the people i have seen playing them keep trying to revive when your both being fired on from a tank..
even if MOST medics do that, they are not the worst kit because ALL snipers SUCK!! and when snipers get knifed in the back because they are wasting time looking through the scope instead of helping, they always cry "Medic here!"

A good sniper doesn't stay planted in the same place for a long time, YOU will get spotted eventually. As for Arixus, I have to say this man, the game is about taking flags and holding them, you said you were sniping an enemy flag, well bro, you gotta expect your team to move in and take the position... so you got the guy with the PKM mowing down bad dudes, maybe wait for an arty drop, then take the flag, all part of the game... Like I said, a good sniper IMO moves, every knife kill I have ever got, you guesssed it, from Snipers... I suck with the knife, but it is sooo easy to once you locate the sniper to sneak up on him... then Knife :rockon:

Don't be delusional, I have seen hundreds of these idiots, they get spoted and they crawl back behind the dune wait for 5 seconds then come right back, OR they slink about 50 feet to the right to hind behind the tree right next ot the one they were using the 1st time.

I don't like to be I sniper and I don't like to have one in my squad, because they aren't good in the ground fighting to capture a flag. their is one exception, if u are defending an place snipers can be usefull. they can spot and hold up some guys before the squad leader got some troops over there.

I know there are a lot of people that just lay somewere waiting to be spotted, but like al the kits, there are some guys who are just the best in any particular kit. I have found my self in several situations when only one sniper could prefent my squad for about 10 min to take the flag.

so to all the snipers out their, if u like it keep doing it! but if u suck, or going after the enemy's to make more kills, stop! because u can make way more kills with a PKM or any lightmachine gun. I think this is dinky's problem, but keep in your mind that score isn't evrything.

I can do that with any gun. Spotting ended in 42 with the addition if commanders.

As far as sniping goes and Flags, i would say a good percentage of flags are taken by snipers. The flag I was sniping was the only one left and held by the enemy.

I m just saying keep on running if a sniper is in a certain spot, no need to spot, just move on down.

UAV well that depends if it is up, and yes i move around. I dont get on rooftops, and top of hills. It doesnt take me 5 shots to kill, and if you are going for a flag, I will take out the enemy that spawns or tries to rocket/c4 your vehicle.

As for as all the kits go: all serve a specific purpose based on the map you are playing. I just dont play sniper. In squads I will get a kit that helps the squad, be it medic, support, or anti tank and I hardly ever snipe when in a squad.

See, what probably happen with Dinky: he was sniped repeatedly and couldnt handly it. Pawned by a sniper.

you're just dreaming here. you need a head shot to take anyone down in 1 shot, while you are cocking for your next shot (cause u are not head shooting people running around with rockets on thier shoulder) they are alreaady firing that rocket at my tank. snipers SUCK!! :upyours:

you're a fool to say snipers suck. i've led rounds in scoring as a sniper. if you think i wasnt helping, you have no logic in your head.

the way i play sniper is very active and in your face. i run with the squad to the flag(unless im a squad leader, but no matter what kit i have then, i dont run in to a well gaurded area). while it isnt fool proof, i have gotten pretty decent at short range combat with the sniper(such as 1 shot with sniper rifle, one-3 shots with pistol or whip out my knife).

i have saved a teammate's life MANY times. im a couple hundred feet away from my friend who is in close combat with the enemy and i shoot and kill the enemy to the relif of my teammate.

i rarely stay in the same spot. i will kill the targets i can see, but once i have accomplished that i push forward. but if i kill some one and do not see anyone else, i dont wait for them to come back for me, i keep pushing towards my objective. i basicly play the sniper as i would any other class, with the exeption that i usually keep an extra 50-100 feet's distance away.

i think you probably have less that 30 mins play time with the sniper and therefore are completely ignorant of the uses and abilities of the sniper.

the sniper class is just like any other; there are people who are both good and bad with it. i believe myself to be an excellent sniper and i also believe that my score would hold up to the people's scores who excel with the other kits(except for team points, of course). i mean just because some random jackass wont heal me or give me ammo, despite my yelling "I NEED A MEDIC HERE!!!!!" in his face repeatedly. does that mean the medic class sucks? no, it means that person sucks WITH the kit, as is the case with snipers. if you havent noticed, there's a lot of bad players on bf2 so dont insult the good ones for the bad ones' lack of skill.

i will say i only read the first paragraph of your response tykwer... but i couldnt get any farthers, once you said you've lead rounds as a sniper, i immediately realized that it was NEVER on WiH, nor any 64 person server for that matter.... because the day i see a sniper win the gold, and NOT be in a helo/tank to do it, is the day i stop playing AT (you know, the antithesis of sniper... the true ownage class)

i have to agree with dinky whole-heartedly, and i'm not one to start flaming in a thread, but i've never seen ANY sniper, now matter how good a shot, do anything more than harass people and annoy them before he gets artillery'd or knifed in the spine... theyre best for playing base defense in certain maps, like the SW tank spawn in mashtuur, they can actually hold that base pretty well from the hill... for a time, thats about the most useful thing i can say about a sniper anywhere...

and like dinky, theres no point in arguing here, i'm just saying my part, and can't be swayed.

And by the way, snipers are useful if they play in your squad as a part of your team, or if the lone wolfers follow your squad around and give long range assistance.

Plus a camping sniper attacking the enemy from far away gets a few tickets for your team; especially if the enemy runs over the claymores that snipers usually drop near ladders and stuff.

I really hate to get in the middle of this but I won a gold or two playing as a Sniper on WiH. I'm sure your just gunna dismiss this as oh yeah BS it can't be done "Snipers suck" :flipoff: But the truth is that It can be done. It's just Kinda hard to mow down a squad with a bolt action M24<<which happens to be my #1 Favorite Sniper rifle. Maybe it's just that you haven't seen very many good SNipers. Most of em are Stupid and just sit in one spot untill you shove a Blade in their @$$. NOT ALL SNIPERS SIT ON THEIR CAN THE WHOLE ROUND!

Just thought I'd put in my opinon, I personly love sniping :sniper: and I KNOW that a Good Sniper can rack up the kills and be a great asset to any Squad in many situations like deffending a Base. Some one telling me Snipers Suck is like me telling Rajun That Support blows. Every Class has it's own Perpose, and to Undestimate any class is a grave mistake. :jester: I'll see you in my cross hairs *caugh* I mean on the Battle Field Dinky. playing an in your face sniper makes sense, I always bring a bolt action rifle to a full automatic gun fight.

Didn’t I already say that this is the most common defensive argument from all snipers? But they are all full of Poop….. or PoopStick if you will. You know why they all say this,, but don’t do it? All together now…….

I think you should look up my stats… I have my Veteran’s sniper badge. I however managed to be successful in all of my time as a sniper….. I flew a plane/helo the whole time!! So I do have the experience to know that snipers SUCK!!! :flipoff:

I DO have a problem with snipers, and that is that too many people play them per round, thus there are less people left to help get flags. It's not always useless to BE a sniper, but so many people DO it it hurts the team.

I skipped to the end because I got sick of seeing dinky repete over and over snipers suck.

I could say chopper pilots suck and have no skill as all they seem to know how to do is go round and round the tv station the whole map firing on the top level, doesn't take much brains or skill to shoot up people standing still.
and/or just whoreing in the BH over spawn points.

each person has their fav. way of playing with their choice of kit.

Myself for example, depending if I'm alone or in a squad. alone I'll go snipe for a bit some place to get the opfor looking for me, I'll then switch to ant-tank and go amour hunting or G3 and go anti-sniper hunting. or just try to help out a squad defend a base.
squaded up, I'll try to pick the kit that will help the squad out the most, and latley that has been the medic kit or ant-tank.

I could say you suck as if you remember at the begging of the summer when BF2 came out, you would load up a BH and just whore for points every map, 200 - 300 per round, but I willn't, that was at the time your style of playing and it did help your side out alot by providing superior air power.
you are a very skilled chopper pilot in game. I get by but it's not my thing to fly around. if I want to fly, I'll go borrow my friends cessna 182 for the day.
I enjoy watching the skilled pilots in the attack choppers run their attacks and the smooth landings the transport folks make.

Now. why don't we all stop bitching about who sucks at what and what kits sucks the most, and just go have fun make beliving we are killing people. this is just a game.

Remember,
you could be across the big pond sleeping in the sand wondering when a real land mine or sniper will take your life.

Wrong point of game is to drain oponents tickets and flags are not the only ways

Besides sniping enemys at their flag means less will make it to your teams flags

Congratulations you killed me once! Good job. Like every other sniper you have to relish in each kill because they are so few and far between. I don’t remember killing you because I have killed thousands of snipers you all look the same when I kill you. I bet for ever one time you snipered me you have had said “damn it Dinky” a dozen times. I have been shot out of a helo 2 times my snipers; I have killed at least 300 snipers in a helo…… that’s a pretty good kill/death ratio if you ask me. Simple fact is that sniping is a waste of time and man power. There is no situation that I would rather have a sniper on my team then another assault, AT, medic, engineer, or spec op. The only reason people play as a sniper is because they are not good enough to play any other kit. Simple put, snipers SUCK!! :flipoff:

I agree with this statement. I like to play different kits, I have favorite kits. I like to play assault, medic, and AT. I do not like playing spec-ops, but they are good to have on the team. They are need to blow bridges and commander utilities. That is needed in the game. But Snipers are not needed, any thing a sniper can do any other class can do better. Ahhhh so you admit that I developed BH whoring LONG before anyone else!!! THANK YOU for the recognition!!! (BTW I actually started that at the end of the demo) But I am interested in hear how you can say that someone that thought up, developed, and flawlessly executed a game altering strategy to gain a over 100 points for every member of a squad could be considered sucking. This is a rational I would like to hear you explain out in its entirety.

I am having fun. I really do think that snipers are a total waste of time, but I am not upset about it. The snipers get upset because I speak the truth and they want to argue the fact that snipers SUCK!! :flipoff: :upyours:

One other bad thing about snipers:
Now that everyone of them has the M95 (that shoots through the glass), it is REALLY easy and tempting for them to TK me for a plane or chopper.
