View Full Version : Admins on duty

When in teamspeak there is a room that says "admins on duty", but it says "Please be quiet in here". What is up with that? A lot of times there is an admin in the room and there isn't one showing one on the server. So a lot of times I can't get on because I don't know what the deal is with the room (don't want to talk in the room if I'm not suppose to). What is the deal with the room? Are there often long periods of time that no admin is on the server?

To address your two questions:
1. In that channel we were having MANY people come in and just talk and talk about nothing. We generally sit in that channel when we aren't in game but are willing to admin if something is needed. We usually go down to the BF2 channel when playing.
2. Also, you may not see us in game even though we are playing :yaya:
You can talk in that channel, but just don't go overboard. Anything else?

That channel is for people looking to contact admins for whatever reason. Some of the admins are online but doing work or other stuff. So they sit in that channel. It's standard protocol that it's pretty quiet in that room unless the admins are talking to each other or when someone's coming in looking for help. So if you're looking for help, speak up.

Can we only talk about constant tkers, hackers, ect.
Or can we tell you if just one guy got in front of the plane on purpose once

Anything that is related to in game play, that deems Admin attention is fine, just to let you know, if you need an admin look through out the TS server. I tend to chat in GW while I play, but can and will always take care of BF2 matters when I am on!!! That is what we are paid to do :hehehe:

Yes, you can go in there and say, "ZYX has been repeatedly tk'ing griefing for planes" etc... Just dont go in there to talk about the weather, or what you had for lunch/dinner today....
Image that channel as your local 711 store. The admins are the cops that is eating donuts there. They don't want to talk to you about your lunch. Tell them there's a homocide or altercation and they'll get right on it. :D

I've always wondered about that room.
I have one problem though. You guys say it's for reporting gameplay problems(tk'ers, etc.), and in the server, guys will come to me for guidance when they come across problems with a player. After investigating the problem and finding out someone is TK'ing or whatever, I'll go to TS and get in the "Please be quiet in here" or whatever channel and report the problem and player to the admin in the room, but I NEVER get a reponse. I figured it was just the 'absolute' silence room.
I know of about 4 situations that I've gone into that channel to discuss a problem not of my own, but of others players in the server... but an admin never hears or replies.

Umm... the Please be quiet in here, is a room with in the admin on duty room, make sure you are in the right room, there are TWO rooms we are talking about. The regular Admin On Duty room, and the please be quiet in here is a separate room... make sure you are in the right room, admins will always respond, unless they have stepped away to EAT there donut... nice comparison WiH  :jester:

Haha! "Excuse me cop... yeah I know your busy eating and relaxing and what not... but there's a lil gang fight going on down the street... would you mind, I mean, I hate to bother you but... ya know..."
Yeah, I'll hop in the channel where the admin is located. I'll get in and introduce myself just in case their not on the TS menu so they know who is talking. I don't get a response, so I go ahead and go on to state the problem figuring maybe their listening but doing something else.
It's not a prob, I'm just looking out for all the guys in the server when I'm in. They see me with the [WiH] tags and most of'em know I have TS. Gotta keep an eye on the little man!

Sometimes u have to leave ur keyboard in hurry or forget to get out of TS. But if they're in there they'll answer.

Thanks for lettin me know!

naw i think the quiet room was a place for an admin to go if he was doing something else, yet wanted to be there in case of somebody needing an admin yet didnt want to hear the chatter going on between other admins.
I look at it like this.. Consider that room to be the WIH Admin Library.. no loud noises please, but please come up to the front desk and ask for help
.
btw i am never in there...lol and i have a bad habit of leaving the game yet staying on TS in the Admin room. I apologize to anyone that has tried getting my attention.

Well using teamspeak didn't work for me. There were 5 admins (Chaos, Paul30, Redy, Capt. Cal, and Knottwobad) in this room talking about APC's, UAV's, and spawn points, but I couldn't get any of them to respond to me as I tried to get onto the server. I haven't had a mic problem yet.

sometimes I also forget to log out TS bc when I click it away it disapears in my task bar, and I don't see it anymore (only when I click on that arow to show hidden pic, but I always forget)

Do this, be on TS all the time. When I see you in there, I will jump down to see if it is a mic problem. They should have answered you if they heard you.....hmmm....

I've always gotten good response from the admins here which is one of the reasons I like to play here. In fact, Redy is probably getting sick of hearing my voice. Last night was particularly bad for a while with the YK's. But each time I complained the admins took care of it quickly. Including the time some "knife" dude TK'd an admin in front of me.

I don't know. They were talking up a storm to each other and I got no response from them. When I got in the game (because I heard someone leave teamspeak) my mic was working fine. An admin (i think Drayu) saw my post and made sure I got in. I was feeling the love, but thanks to the admin who cared enough to check on me  .

I've seen the bug where TS lights up and shows that you're talking, but no one can hear you. That has happened to me and other people before. It is possible that there is a conflict between the game and the TS client on your machine.

I don't know...An admin contacted me on TS once I was in the game so I think it was working. WiH admins have always been great previously so I'm not going to draw any negative conclusions. It was probably technical.

Sometimes, personally for myself, I tend no to reply to people in TS unless they identify themselves first. Or they might have their game sound turned on much louder than the TS sound. I dunno. It's unlike my admins to ignore a player who's looking for help.

Sometimes I run TSO with BF2. Sometimes I don't. The bug happens to be occasionally w/ and w/o tso running.

Part of this may be due to outdated drivers on your sound card. Regardless of having problems or not it never hurts to download the latest update for your soundcard. I was having problems with TS/VoIP until I updated my drivers. Everything works fine now.

The only time I've went in that room (well, I didn't even bother going in) and not gotten help is when there's nobody in there. It seems to be empty quite often in the morning (where I'm at). Usually I'm just asking for a bump to make me some space, though I hate doing that.

early saturday, on the server, there were a bunch of new guys and some idots playing. most notably a guy who was flying and commanding for some time. so i politely asked him to choose one or the other. he retorted that he could do both and that ea didnt tell him he couldnt. i told him the wih owners paid for the server so they can make the rules they like and we have to abide by them. he continued to verbalize and not cease.
so stupidity abroad went on the WiH ts and voila, the pilot/commander was kicked with in 30 seconds.
just throwing this in to say the admins were on the ball around noon on saturday. great server

You should ask us to bump someone, because when I make room for myself or others, there is always someone who has been AFK/idle for a while, and if that doesn't work there is often a TKer.
The other thing I was going to mention is that I always hangout in the "no excessive talking in this room" because I always use the ingame VOIP and I can't hear too many voices or I go crazy. Also I run TS on another machine with separate monitor, and subsiquently another microphone. This means it will take me a couple extra seconds to respond to you. Please give me 2 shout outs, and 5-7 seconds to reply.
Thanks
