I have heard so many people talk about, what to get? which is better/worse? So I figured I would put some input into it, as I LIKE BOTH!!!! :wallbash:

this is for GW to WoW comparison

WoW is a true MMORPG, Guild Wars isnt. Oh yeah these are all my opinions. If you have the time and can devote it to a game, WoW is the way to go! There is just too much to do, it is amazing. I like GW for the fact I can play a 30 Minute mission, then go do something else. WoW is endless, mission upon mission, and some take ALONG time.

Guild Wars
Better looking characters
the weapons look better
Easier to obtain better weapons
Missions are well balanced with Quests through out the game
Well designed city and town set up
Excellent PvP set up
NO MONTHLY FEES: and this is for all those that say well by paying you lose alot of the idiots, BULLHONKEY, I have noticed just as many clowns on WoW as in Guild Wars.
Less Cumbersome
Have 2 professions( makes for endless builds)
ANET atuned to its players a little better, I know that in WoW they have pumpkins and what not, but GW, made special helms, and haad the Mad King come down, it was pretty kewl, and well done! Makes you wanna hang around for all the holidays!!!

WoW
Little more cartoonish
Beautiful cities
Availabilty to many servers
NOT LIMITED TO 4 Characters(a con in GW I think it should be 6)
nicely done interface
you arent stuck with only 8 skills at the time(I wish GW would give just 2 more)
some quests are just cumbersome(con)
Takes for ever to travel(Con)
I still have alot to play in WoW to get a better feel for it, but it is a good game

BOTH
Very little lag experienced
smooth game play
well balanced

My end conclusion: which this will all be edited when I have more knowledge of both
I have had alot of people ask me which to get lately, so basically, it is finance and time driven. Both games off the shelf are priced identically. WoW, yes you have a monthly fee, GW will follow with expansions(that is where they get the monthly fee not as much though) If you are looking for something to play everyday for an hour or two go Guild Wars. WoW just needs more of a devotion, you can play 3 hours at a time and not realize, just gotta get one more piece of skin, etc... Not saying you cant play GW that long, but once a mission is done, it is wasier to take a break while in town. They are both fun games, I like them both, both will be long term IMO. Guild Wars is still young, so I think they can do alot of improvements, which we will see in expansions! WoW is more addictive, definitely. Please post your comments... I want to do this, because like I said, it is asked over and over which is better...

oh yeah, don't criticize my opinions, as that is what they are, post your own!!! :jester:

at the time being, i actually prefer gw....it was much easier to gt into a party, even if it was just with henchies. in wow i got to get into my first party last night, and it was just with some greedy guy that wanted his quests done.

yes that is true... and in GW they have kept on improving the henchies as well!

You opened the can of worms.....your post is obviosly biased torawards guild wars, and yes, you dont have enough knowledge about WOW. Let me counterpoint you---

WOW pvp, simply blows guild wars out of the water. How many people can you name in Guild Wars PVP combat "BY NAME" that you just have to after with a vengeance? My list is 30+ people I bullshit with "I just had you cold...." Guild Wars has so many teams you dont get the time to learn anyone by face or name ( not even including Korean symbols) or learn what little nitpicky things that that particular person does in combat that you can counter. On my server, the Alliance knows that I will charge a position, as a priest! And fear 4 people off the bat while 2 shamans follow in behind me.

There are only 3 battlegrounds in Warcraft, however, they vary strategies constantly.

1) War Song Gulch----this is Capture the Flag, the least of strategy changes actually. You can play defense or offense here though and have a different game experience all the time. 10 vs. 10

2) Arathi Basin---Control the resource points to be the first team to 2000. Games that can last anywhere from 2 minutes (rare) to 30 (more often). Strategies change constantly here and the team that can adjust on the fly is really going to win this game. Level of players, speed, and communication all play vital roles here. 15 vs. 15

3) Alterac Valley---the WAR to be in. 40 vs. 40 , huge map! NPC monsters on the map, NPC leaders on the map. Be the first team to kill the others High Warlord in his castle. Good luck though........games can go on for HOURS. Huge mythic creatures that teams can summon to push the offense. Massive defenses to insure the other team doesnt even get close to their objective.

Thats just ORGANIZED pvp.

There is also town raids. Join channel /8 "world defense" alot of times guilds will go raid numerous opposite faction towns. All you have to do is fly to that town to join in the defense of the city! Help the guards!

PVP servers. Constant PVP action. Almost every zone is a contested zone so you always have to watch your back. Some consider this a "pure" WoW server, but there is a lot of PVP on the non-PVP servers as well. You can flag yourself for PVP on non PVP servers and you'll find alot of players do that.

Non PVP servers. Ever play Everquest? They had arenas all over Everquest no one ever used. They solved that in WOW by every few hours at random a zone wide message will come out that says " I left a huge treasure on the floor of the arena...whoever can open it can have it! from so and so dwarf. BOOM you have every player in the zone rushing into the arena to try and open that chest and its just one huge cage fight. Fun actually.

Thats just PVP. I know you have been playing Guild Wars for along time and you love the 25 missions. How many times have you done those 25 missions though? Doesnt it get old? Isnt it boring at this point. I mean, youve done it all before, probably more then anyone posting here. Ive been playing WOW for months, level 53 now, and that means IM about halfway through the Horde side. I could do it all again from a different character on the Alliance side and never do the same quests and alot of the time the same instances. Hell there is alot of zones I havent seen because there heavily geared torwards the Alliance.

Your paying for WOW, you should devote as much time as you can to it before forming an opinion. My advice is defintley play a class you really like. That means take a few up to level 10 then choose your favorite ( you can do that in a few hours). Priest was a little boring for me til I got past 20, then the class really starting whipping ass........

I also want a pet class too whcih means I will play as a Hunter or Warlock on the Alliance side.

actually I am not biased towards GW... and that was the point, I have alot of people IRL and in game who ask me, so that is the purpose of this. I have both, play both... Had a tough time getting into WoW until I joined the Alliance side, which I like. Great points!!! I love both games, and will continue to play both, I dont want to become a you, or a Monos though. You guys are NUTZ. :jester:
