you need to find a weapons trainer and have him/her teach you to use different weapons. i do not remember were they are but im sure some one here knows them.

There are secondary and primary proffesions. You can always learn fishing, cooking and first aid. These are secondary and are good to have for killing time and also for making food and healing yourself. You can only have two primary proffesions.
Primary proffesions are skinning (kill animals and take their leather and other type skin) which goes along with leatherworking (make leather armor and armor kits that add bonuses to armor) ,
mining (find copper, tin, gold etc. veins in the world and pick it) which goes along with engineering (make bombs and ammo) or blacksmithing (make mail and other types of metallic type armor) ,
herbalism (find plants and pull them out of the ground) goes with alchemy (make potions of all kinds) ,
tailoring (make shirts and pants and stuff also learn to make bags) and enchanting (enchant and disenchant armor put bonuses on different types of armor) are independent of any other proffession.
Even though some proffesions go together, it doesnt mean that you have to have both. You can mine for minerals and just sell what you get at an auction house or to vendors. I think that is all the proffesions, if I missed some Im sure someone will correct me. :D

BEST proffesion advice: Take up mining and skinning as your 2 primary proffesions til level 40. This will allow you to sell all of it and earn the required gold for your mount. (100) Also, do some PVP and attain the rank of Sergeant ( very easy to do) This will give you a discount on all purchases from your home vendors. Thus, this will shave 20 gold off your mount expense. (80)
At level 40, dump either mining or skinning and go blacksmithing or leatherworking. Which ever goes hand in hand with the other.
