OK, Question..................
Is it me or does the Allies guns seem to work better on single shot and the MEC and CHINA work better on burst?
Which weapon do you prefer?

I always use burst.

Burst everytime here. I NEVER play MEC or China so I dunno what their weapons are like. I always use the unlocks so the same guns are used on either team...

I usually play medic when I'm ground-pounding, and I use burst UNLESS the enemy is say 50 yards away or so then I single-shot. I always use the unlock so I can't say about the default weapons it has been too long since I used them.

The M16 has good accuracy so single on that will get the bullet to connect more than 85% of the time. Single shot for AKs are inaccurate guns so they are not that reliable on single although single still works. in burst the M16 has always been somewhat unreliable in burst unlike the AKs possibly due to fire rate.

As far as MEC/China Vs. Allied weapons are concerned the allied weapons are more accurate and the MEC/China weapons are harder hitting. I switch back and forth constantly between single and auto/burst. The accuracy of all the weapons takes a serious nosedive on automatic at long range. The only weapon I've notice which sometimes does work better on burst is the M16 medic and M16M203 assault. At medium range a good shot on tri-burst will usually get you two hits and will down an enemy a little faster than on single shot in my experience. That aside, close range I go auto/burst, anything medium range or farther I'll switch to single.

burst fire annoys the hell out of me. ill get one burst off and even if im lucky to hit them with it, they dont go down and just mow me down with auto while im waiting the split second to get off another burst. that and trying to hit those constantly jumping pricks is so hard for me on burst, but with auto i own those dumb asses.

single shot if I can remember to switch it. I can't seem to hit a damn thing when on burst or semi.

I only use burst fire at short-medium range. For anything else lately I usually switch to single in an attempt to be more accurate.

All weapons seem more accurate on single fire. :sniper:

what's up with switching to single shot, I just give a short tap on the mouse. so u can't forget to switch it back again and u don't waste time while switching it.
so I do use single shot for far away, the G36c (that's the name of the S. ops. right?) Is better bc he recovers real quick after a shot, so u can kill an enemy real quick. That's an other reasen why I don't switch to single bc on single u can't fire so quick after each shot.
about the USMC against MEC/China guns...I don't know, the AK is pretty well on medium range, so is the burst of the USMC attack gun. on long range they both suck. but with the burst u'r clip isn't empty that soon. but from up close ur dead with burst, the AK rules there.

The m16 should be more accurate at long range. But the ak probably shouldn't. The m16 in POE and DCF was killer at long range.

I agree with it's accuracy and need to learn to single shot. At long distance I use short bursts. I've heard the PKM is good at a distance on single shot but have yet to try it.

I've tried using the PKM on single and the accuracy still lacks severly. I will most likely die most of the time if I try using the PKM is single shot. As with the other guns I'm always switching between single to full auto/burst mode. I will switch between them almost 100 times during a round.

The PKM is not an accuracy weapon, it is a "mow down a lot of people because I have the biggest freaking clip of any weapon in the game and will keep shooting until at least one person is dead" weapon.

Ugh, yeah, I hate most of the chinese levels.
As for burst/single, If i'm in a wide open level, i play sniper anyway, so usually for me faster is always better. burst.

i agree with this assessement. i'll play sniper and the INSTANT the person with a g36c comes into naked eye's range he'll drop me in no time. before i knew which gun was the g36c i thought it was some good long range rifle, but the thing looks like an UMP from cs:s, how is it so freaking accurate and powerful at those long ranges??

its all based on the skill of the shooter like all things that makes the differents of a good shot and bad shot. holding the trigger down will not work unless close quraters but going back to the question i like single shot a long range brust on close fights.

It took me several weeks to figure out how to get full auto back after accidentally switching to single, then some more practice to perfect the timing of when to use which and even more practice to do it fast. :mgdrillsergeant: Practice make perfect soldier, and too much practice costs life, jobs and relationships. :wallbash:

i think the game actually kind of mimics reality (intentionally or not)
ive shot plenty of 5.56 and 7.62 lead. and ive found the 5.56 weapons to all be more accurate in semi-auto than any of the stamped-metal warsaw pact rifles(ak's, sks, rpk's).
i see that in the game, the ak's arent as accurate as the m16a2, m4, or l85. and rightly so.

Ballistically they are similar cartridges to a degree and are typically similar in accuracy, but yes the guns that they fire from are by no means the same. Personally, I'd love to see gun jams in this game, like in Army Ops, it would even these guns out even more in my opinion. Kalashnikov action guns (AK SKS RPK) are far more realiable while the Stoner action (M4 M16) are known for being pretty fickle yet more accurate, especially in sand/dirty envirnments.

roger on the bullet ballistics.
i also agree with your idea, and maybe some mods will incorporate that into the mix. however ive drug my a2 thru lots of desert and as long as we had the time for normal daily maintenance it always worked when i pulled the trigger.
if i didnt have a cleaning kit or the time to clean, ak would be the choice overall. ive tested this and it is the only assult rifle i own that can be fired and not cleaned repeatedly and still work perfectly. i own an amd-65 ak & a hk g3 now along with my c&r collection.

No no, no gun jammings for me. If you've ever played America's Army you'll realize that while its a great idea, it never actually works in game.

Actually the jamming did work in AA's Army Ops. Whenever I really didn't need a jam, it jammed. :bawling:

I've never been in the Army and have never used the a2 under the conditions you have but I totaly agree with you, you must take the time to clean it and keep it in tip top shape. If you do, it will normally work at an acceptable level. Although if I was going to stake my life on a weapon in real life the M4 would probably be one of my last choices. Good gun for competition and varmint hunting though. :sniper:
Also, I've noticed the mil-spec FMJ's you use in the army seem to work far better for preventing jamming than the competition and varmint rounds I've used in it. Thats probably one of the biggest reasons i think Gun-nuts tend to be critical of them, whereas Veterans swear by them.

well, all my rounds have been on a range or in a ftx. no combat. i just saw a "shootout" show on history channel in a firefight, out of 4 or 5 guys with a2's, only one was firing correctly by the end of the firefight.
my weapon of choice right now would be the socom m1a by www.springfieldarmory.com. has won rifle of the year by nra for 2005. that would be all semi-auto action. would want that over anything else right now i think.

Well well well :yaya: it seems you and I are deffinetely on the same page. I have always been a big fan of Garand action rifles and have found them the perfect combination of reliability and accuracy in semi-automatics. Never shot the Socom edition, but I have used a good handful of Garand rifles: M1, M1 carbine, vietnam era M14 and the modern M14 match rifles. They are all wonderful, beautiful rifles. Yes, I am a gun nut and frequently refer to rifles and beautiful.
I've always wanted to get my hands on a G36, that would probably be my weapon of choice, however out of all the weapons I've used personally It'd have to be the M14.
I am also a collector of Springfield 1903 bolt action and WWII era Mauser rifles.

roger that deathcar. i have a particular fondness for the m1 garand. i drilled with it for a year on the drill team for the Naval ROTC unit at OU. the rest of the battalion used garands that had been deactivated. we were fortunate to have live-firing perfect specimens. (back in the day when giving 18 y/o college kids a live weapon in the middle of campus was ok, 1989 to be exact) of course i wasnt that excited then when i was practicing hours per day plus all the other ways a platoon leader can torture you with a heavy rifle.
in any case, for the hundreds of hours spent twirling it like a baton and throwing it around in fancy drill routines (reference opening sequence of "a few good men"), i never fired it once. i still havent fired one. i enjoyed drilling with garand way more than with m16 though.
ive only fired an m-14 once. it was great but short lived.
as for collecting, i just got my c&r last month, so i am just starting out. i understand weapons as beautiful. trying to figure out the next rifle to buy is ridiculous, they are all great for one reason or another.
