Anyone here have XM or Sirius? Which one you do like? I am going to put one into my car for the long long drive to Chicago to Los Angeles. I'm leaning toward Sirius bc I've been checking their programming out via their 3-day internet trial. I like their playlists so far. XM's playlist is too deep and they play a lot of songs that are just unknown to me.

I have had XM for about three years now and I love it.

The playlists just depend on what channel you listen to. I recognize almost all the songs on the 80s on 8, which is what I listen to most often. Every once in a while I will hear something that I haven't heard since the 80s and it should just stay there.

I am somewhat spoiled by satellite radio now. Whenever I ride with a buddy and the radio I just go nuts when the commercials come on. :upyours:

The channel listings are nearly identical. For sports, XM has NASCAR for one more year and baseball. Sirius has everything else. I love baseball on the radio and cannot stand to hear any other sport on the radio instead of watching. Football and hockey are just wrong without seeing the faces mashed against the glass or seeing the body and head going different directions after a strong safety pop.

Sirius has spent tons of money to get exclusive content like Howard Stern, the NFL, and so on. They have around 1 million subscribers. XM just passed five million not too long ago. There is debate on whether Sirius can make money before the bill collectors come in and shut it down. Oh, I forgot, XM has Opie and Anthony.

What kind of questions do you have? I would be more than happy to answer any that I can.

God, I sound like rep for XM!!!! :yuck:

Excuse me while I clarify...

None of the music channels have commercials, except for those talking about events on other channels.

I have neither but Kir has sirius and it rocks. I dont know much about XM except it has way more subscribers. I think either way is a good choice. Just go for the cheaper one.

I have neither but I know XM carries almost all the talk radio shows from the station I used to listen to in Orlando. The station is called real radio 104.1, and they have the 2 best radio shows, Monsters of the morning (used to be Monsters of the mid day), and The Philips File. I think it is 153 on XM.

I haven't listened to either show since I moved out of Fl. but I LOVED Philips. I'm excited to go home the last week of this month, not to see my family, but to listen to the radio!! hahaha Radio is kinda.........dull........in Iowa.

Dish Network has about 100 Sirius channels on there.

And we listent to them all the time. Programming is good from that view point.

I have no idea about their service, equipment, or any other thing.

I don't know what i'll do with myself when Howard Stern is no longer on normal radio. Don't give in to satellite!! I'd say Sirius if you like Howard Stern.

Howard is a moron.
He has had the same show for the last 20 years, talk abot his small penis, get women to take thier cloths off (what good is that on radio????), then he gets someone funny in there like Norm McDonald or Arty Lange, they say something really funny then he just repeats it word for word with his goofy voice the Robin laughs and all of a sudden he is a genious.

He is what I call a "Repeater" all he does is litterally repeats what someone smart and funny says RIGHT AFTER they said it, and people thnk he is witty. His show has been stale and unoriganal for years.

I'm strongly leaning toward Sirius. NFL games, sports ticker on the tuner, playlists that I like. Stern's just an added bonus. But let's not get off-track on Stern. That man can use up a whole forum... :)

NFL for Sirius is the obvious choice. I mean you get to listen to every game, thats really good since there is no way I can see my teamplay.

/agree Howard Stern is overrated.....though Private Parts is still a funny movie.

/Opie and Anthony for XM. These guys are the funniest duo Ive ever heard on radio period. When I was living in Washington DC the radio show there (Don and Mike) teamed up with New York City to broadcast Don and Mike there and in return we got Opie and Anthony in the DC market. Results? Don and Mike were cancelled in New York City after 3 months and Opie and Anthony were going strong in DC up until they got fired. :(

I have Sirius and it's great. I have no complaints. A friend of mine compared both Sirius and XM. He eventually went with Sirius and he likes it a lot.

However, it does use mostly line-of-sight. This means that you will get reception where the satellite can see you. You won't get any service in tunnels, parking garages, and the middle of your house. I've heard they're working on putting more towers and other things to increase overall signal.

If you're don't need to worry about that sort of thing and/or don't care, then go for it. IMO, going back to FM from Sirius is like going back to dial-up after using high-speed.

They both have talk radio. From ESPN, Fox, ... lots of overlapping programming.

They also both have a ticker for scores.

I love XM, but if you are indifferent, go with the cheaper one.

When I initially shopped for Sattelite Radio, Sirius looked like it was on its way out, so I didn't spend too much time with it. I ended up with XM, which I really like. I own three receivers and LOVE IT!!!

Once you listen to XM for a while, there's no going back to regular radio.

You can get a free 3 day trial of XM-Online. Give it a shot.

I recommend XM Comedy and ETHEL.

I spent several days listening to the free-trial from XM and Sirius. I ended up getting Sirius bc I know much more songs from their playlist than from XM.

For my WRX, I got the brand new Sirius Starmate Replay. This little tuner unit has sports ticker, game tracker and 44 minutes of memory to replay any song or anything that is in the buffer. Very nice unit!

I'm loving it so far!
