Well it is probably best that you did not go through the torment that we endured! OH the pwnage, I expected little else, but man did we get owned, DHR is a clan several levels above us, I only hope that we can someday get that good.

the key to winning a scrim relies not only on talent but one of the bigger issues and in my opinion more important than individual talent is a unified team that follows a predetermined strategy. as anyone can see when there are mulitple DHR members on the same team they work together and follow a plan. this will win you the rounds again and again. i have been guilty myself of not having the greater interest of the team in mind and "spamming" at the begining of the round, but after my play yesterday and talking with a number of the admins and more capable players i feel that i need to spend more time concentrating on strategy and less time laughing about my death the last round.

Yeehaw keep the praise coming! It doesnt take that long to get a grasp on counterstrike tactics. Ask Adam, me, justin, or anyone else that got annilated by nx 2 months ago. That scrim last night on dust2 was a fall for you from the start ( not fair for you that we just played it on CAL league, but hey you wanted the map)

The way it works is like this. You find a clan to partner up with, example SSP and DHR, PNP might be good for you guys, you practice two times a week for 2 hours (mininum) on the map you will be competing on in the upcoming week. You come up with all your strats and exactly WHO WILL BE WHERE AND WHEN, its crucial your team leader ( someone who is good with strategies) hands out assisgnments. Then you practice practice practice til you find what works. Get good at one-two-three punching HE grenades into areas, throwing flashbangs at the right time, throwing smoke in the right place. Find out who is good with a Scout cause he will be using an AWP. Elect a leader and listen to him. DHR's squad leader is Mintskoal. He sounds like a Time-Life operater and your happy listening to him, cause he makes you feel like your going to win even if you dont. DHR has ten members 9 of them active. Get them all playing, all active. We have only 1 active member who is not playing competitively (Eject) and that isnt his choice right now ( sorry pete)

Scrimming 5 man I think SPC learned had alot more to do with good tactics then good shooting. Communication is key. Intelligence is too. Within 5 seconds on dust we knew how many and where your whole team was. @ months ago we had no clue how to do all this crap, but practice, and listening and learning, it all comes second nature. Its way more intense then pub servers also.

Thanks for the advice! It's much appreciated.

I realized after that scrim, that we had a problem with Teamwork, I hope that we can practice and hone the craft. But how do yall guys practice together? Do yall do it on that server, or do you just use the two pub servers?

SSP and DHR each have there own server. DHR is a 12 man server thats like 25 bucks a month. Usually what we do is set up a practice on the message boards here (2 days out), everyone responds yah or nay if they can make it or not. 10 minutes before the practice we go to the pub servers and grab our teammates, the ones that arnt on are always good about getting on and making the practice. Then we log on, get on the appropriate team and usually spend 10 minutes following our leaders around while he points out perspective places he wants us to be. After practicing it for 20 rounds or so you generally figure out what works and what doesnt.

Example of usually how it goes. DHR's CT defense for Dust2. I was placed at B with the job of guarding the tunnel. Im pretty good with a sniper rifle which is why Adam placed me here.

Round 1-- Im on top of middle crate with Deagle. Im headshot by Redy or Phyx.

Round 2-- Ive repositioned with a scout at the end of B. I kill Phyx (maybe) but am gunned down by Redy.

Round 3-- no attack, I reposition and gun down one with a scout at Long A (a 300 yard shot! and its krunkert!)

Round 4-- I now have the $$ for an AWP and I reposition my self offcenter at B. I kill Phyx, Redy, and Killing Agent.

Round 5, 6, 7, 8--- no attacks at B. ( cause there is an AWP there now)

This is just an example of how we come up with strategies and Im sure how RCM-1 does it too. You get to know your team and what people are good at and put em generally where you think there going to do best. Jwolly and Filthy are good hopping short range killers. You dont wnat to be anywhere within 20 feet of them if they have an M4. So Adam puts them at Short A and B courtyard and let them do there thing.

You can also learn alot at what the other team is doing. Team 1 is great to Scrim because there unpredictable. Yah they might not go B rounds 5, 6, 7, 8,---but they'll have someone throw smoke there to make you think they are. All this info has to be relayed over the mike and instant descions have to be made at what to do. EVEN THEN--if you have the info your still not guaranteed to win the round, your just in a better position then where you were 5 seconds before. I think this might be a reason some folks are gettting irrattated with PUB voice spamming. Alot of "regulars" on the server are getting VERY VERY used to only pertinent info being passed over the voicechat during 5 man scrimming. There just is no time to bs. (while your alive)

Anyhow if you need anymore help Id be happy to help out.

Were in the process of locating a server for practicing purposes, not sure where yet.

To add a little to what jeff said.

If you know where your people are at the start of the map, and you hear/see them go down, you know where at least one enemy is.

Communication is key. I don't know if team 2 uses TeamSpeak during cal matches or not. But this is invaluable. "Dead men tell no tales, unless they are on TS" :) With TeamSpeak it is so much easier to understand people than the in-game voice chat.

BTW, it is against the rules on both WIH servers to relay game info after your dead, but in the CAL rules it says that Ventrillo and other such programs can be used.
