I know WiH doesn't do customs, but I was thinking we could do a trial run.. maybe.. There are three maps that I find are absolutely quality maps. Top of the line. I think everyone should check them out.

1) De_clan_mill_beta - This map is quality. It's an official CAL map, and is just down right GOOD. There are no custom textures, so no nasty purple and black checkerboards. It's EVEN. We are talking dead even. It can go either way. It's got 5 places to go. Long A, Short A, Long B, Short B, Middle, and Tunnel's. (Ok maybe 5, but I was disincluding tunnels.) This is a bomb planting map. It's fairly straight forward. And good tactics will win it.

My rating for Clan Mill:
8.5/10. The only thing holding it back from a 10/10 is the small space. However since WiH only has 25 slots, and rarely is ever full, it would be no problem.

2) De_Contra - Another absolutely quality map. There are so many ways to get to each bombsite I don't even know where to begin. (Maybe like 6 or 8 ways) Leaving LOTS of variety, and strategic minds to think, and plan. There are two texture files for this map, which arn't a big issue. I.e. the signs to say where to goto B, and A. This is only a problem if the server doesn't have the textures in the right place for people to Download. Yet another bomb map.

My rating for Contra:
9/10. The abudance of places to go and large map size make this a perfect map for public play.

3) De_Losttemple. - This map looks like it took some thought. And by that I mean, it rocks. These guys did an absolutely great job doing this map. I can't remember if there are texture files, but from what I remember.. yes. How many? I don't know, but a small small amount. This map has many different ways to go. And this is another bomb map.

My rating for losttemple:
10/10. That's right, a perfect 10. This map has clear lanes, but without being too open. It has valves "circle" flow to it, where it is not straight on, i.e. you can get behind the enemy, but not without ease. By circle I mean, think of Dust 2. You can go from T spawn to long A back through the underpass to B. That's how I mean circle flow.

If you doubt any of these maps. CHECK THEM OUT IMMEDIATELY. These are the kind of customs that belong in valves collection. And on any server.

I say we do a test period with one or.. all three of these maps added, then get peoples input (maybe a weekend trial run)

If no one likes them, then remove them and no harm was done.

Well, don't just throw in some because they're custom, I say put them through tests and etc. for lag/balancing issues. The ones I reivewed are the only three I think worthy of being on WiH. Other sites may have more.. but they arn't quality.

Dude... I tried a while back to get custom maps on the server.

I spent days finding quality maps, posting screenshots and links, but nothing came out of it.

Site owners used to have a policy of no custom maps. I dont know if that will change but they've been fairly busy with BF2 im sure.

Never played losttemple but the other maps are both cal certified and both awsome. I have the other 2 maps loaded on my server if WIH wants them I could upload them to the FTP if they didnt know a better way to find them.

Doubt it will happen. We even had a server that was completely custom but WiH owners want people to just be able to hop on and not have to worry about downloading maps and things just to play.

Thats understandable. :(

Give it a shot anyways. Who knows what could happen? Sure your old all custom server didn't draw people in.. but it's only 3, and they are valve quality!

We should just put them into the rotation of the normal server, if you post the links to where you can download the map and notify people that they're going into the rotation then surely they'll download them before going on to war is hell? right?

It's only 3 maps anyways, quite popular so alot of people should have them already.

I think I can make a case to the owners to add 1 custom map to the server to see how it goes. so you guys throw up a poll and vote on which custom map you'd like to add to the WiH CSS server.

Would this work for you guys?

Seeing how custom map requests have gone in the past, I think thats a good compromise. On the subject of which map, I dont care. I havent played any of those three, and it would be nice to put some fresh air on the rotation.

WHEN we make a poll, granted there will be one, let us all make sure these maps have something to do with our exsisting maps:

It's either a hostage or bomb.
No glass, no rats.
It has a "circle" flow to it.
It is balanced.

My input:
Clan_Mill_Beta - No custom textures, and well balanced.

Let's get 4 more.

The great thing about Clan_Mill, is it's just pefect when it comes to detail. It's got valve's "older" touch to the map. It is about perfect size for 12 v 12 (our server size). It's relatively small! Only 6mb! Whereas De_Losttemple weighs in at a hefty 25! Depending on the upload speed and players download speed 6MB should be done in approx. 20 seconds. I just can't get over this map.

Official for CAL, AND CPL! That's right. CyberPROFESSIONAL League even has it.

The problem with that kems is:

A) the Size.

At 25MB it might make people walk away.. so I say something a little smaller..

lol my bad ive heard good things about kismayo actually alot about that map so to sum it up heres 3 maps suggested recently

My vote is for de_clan_mill_beta. It's fun with the tunnels and crazy box room shootouts.

I have office_extended too, but I feel that it's really CT sided. I'd have to vote against it.

Those are the only two I've played that have been mentioned.
