well, cs's lame updates have finally successfully teamed up with this computer's firewall to defeat all my efforts to get the damn game to work.

since i dont have administrative access on this (my dad's) computer ill have to wait till i go back to school in a few weeks before i can get things back in order.
i swear to god this is so painful

not just because i cant get the update to work, but also because this particular update did exceptionally close to nothing.

HEY VALVE! :upyours: ARGH!

is that why norton kept being a pain in the ass the other day? i thought something was wrong, it kept popping up like 3 or 4 times saying block or permit. stupid piece of shit.

Norton constantly prompted me for the permit program option while I was playing CS:S.. I just left it open and played.

Now I don't have Norton, I have AVG (which takes up 1/3 of the resources)

yeah its norton, except it doesnt ask me to block or permit, it just automatically blocks because i dont have admin

Another vote for AVG, btw it's free. www.grisoft.com I've used it for a few years now and am quite happy with it.
