Another successful OKShoot this year!
A good...no great time...was had by all. It was great seeing old friends and making new ones. There were a total of 16 ppl attending this year.
We started at the Hardrock in Tulsa on Wed with everyone meeting in the "Ice bar" officially known as the Center Bar. It has a unique 80-foot ice-topped bar that keeps your beer or beverage ice cold while you're drinking it. After that the party was moved to Night Moves one of Tulsa's excellent exotic dancing clubs. Unfortunately I didnt make it there that night since I apparently had to many shots of tequila.
The next day was a free day of sleeping in or running around to walmart etc. We met up again to go to the Red Rock Canyon Grill for some excellent food and conversation. They also had live music which was good too. After that we were back at the Center bar for a few drinks then off to Night Moves again. And thanks to Papasan for getting the taxi transportation together for us. This time I made the trip and it was awesome! Since what happens in Tulsa stays in Tulsa I wont go into a lot of details but we had a lot of fun! Suffice it to say Papasan's brother is one lucky devil! Tulsa knows how to party!
Friday morning we checked out of the Hardrock and everyone but me went to the OFASTS site to set up our three line spaces. I had to go to Wichita to pick up my son from the airport. Thanks to everyone for helping to setup.
Ppl from G4 were at the shoot again this year and were taping on Friday. After setup the guys were watching those activities and waiting for the tank to be fired. It took a lot longer then anticipated and Inferno (my son) and I made it out there in time to see them shoot the tanks main gun and check out the G4 girl.
Friday night was dinner and turning in fairly early since we had to be up early to drive out to the shoot before they opened to the public.
Saturday was fun. There was some delay in getting to shoot due to grass fires this year. Hopefully OFASTS is learning from there mistakes. I'm pretty sure they are since this year they did the G4 taping on Friday instead of Saturday which held is up last year. But all in all we had a great time shooting the guns and watching the explosions. I thought the explosions were particularly good this year including Kill the Car. I hope we have some video of it. The night shooting was cool too with all the tracers and flairs. By the way, we had a very safe line this year thanks to Papasan, Crotch-Rot and others implementing new rules for safety.
Of course the main attraction this year, the tank, was awesome. They were limited on ammo for the tank and there was a short list of folks that were going to get to shoot it. Papasan was the first person to shoot the tank on Sat out of a handful of folks. Quite a distinction really. I'll let him fill you in on the details of that.
Sunday we got up and after eating and saying good-bye we pretty much all went on our separate ways.
I'm sure everyone has more to say when they get a chance. Some of it is a blur due to the partying. I had a great time. This event gets better every year!!!
