This game has the most intense action I've ever encountered. The animations and particle effects are the best I've seen too..

I am a real sissy when it comes to scary games. Movies, almost anything else I am like meh. As a result I didnt play the demo last night when I finaly got it. I was waiting for today to play it in the comfort of daylight :1poke:

Best link I found to download was siera.com or something, I was getting insane DL times like 30 hours and stuff got it there in about 20 min. I will try and find the link and post it. (note: I am extremely lazy and bad with PC's, except the games that is)

Has anyone had any tech issues though? I get a wierd skip every now and then I just got to the part where you see the girl at the end of the hall and go into some sort of hollucination and my game just crashed. My screeen just went black and I actually had to unplug my pc to reboot.

AND STILL PUSHING 11 FPS. (Or thereabouts)

PC:

Socket 478 3.2 GHz
2 GIGs Ram
Nvidia Geforce FX5200 (THE KILLER!) I call it the killer, because it kills FPS.

That's all you really need to know.

Time to upgrade to socket 939/PCI-e.

WTF?? U should be runnin it way faster dude..

I run it at about 2/5 medium details, 2/5 max details and 1/5 options off at 800x600.

I don't get much noticeable slo-down (now. I changed the resolution from 1024x768).

Running it great...

Actually amazed because I enjoy it quite a bit. Graphics are very nice and the sound is amazing and the story seems decent so far. Besides Multiplayer (played one of the betas and I HATED the MP portion of the game) my only problem is the lack of being able to hide in shadows.

Running it 1600x1200, soft shadows on, everything maxed except no AA or AF (for some reason 4 AF kills performance in the game... strangest thing ever).

Yeah but at first I had it the exact same way I have it now except I had 4 AF (it defaulted to that) and it performed alright... but was so much better when I turned it off.

But I got a 6800 Ultra, athlon xp 3200+ and a gig of ram... next year I will probably get me some SLI setup ;).

Hmm ur system isn't THAT much better than mine.. think I should be gettin better performance at 1024x768? It's choppy enough that i turn it down to 800x600

I would think so... might just be the 9800 though... get a 6800 or 6600 (any variant runs the game fine from what I have been reading).

Got Soft Shadows off and no AA or AF? Like I said... AF seems to have a huge hit on performance for some strange reason... usually I can run 8 AF with no noticable difference in performance.

I played a little...reminds me of doom3...great graphics..poor replay value... :dunno: wait and see. Bullet time isn't bad but does this game need it..nope..just my opinion.. :)

Doom3 is like a danish with no icing and FEAR is like a friggn chocolate mousse, quadruple-layered wedding cake.

I really dunno how u can say it has no replay value. When I play the demo (for the 10th, 14th or 28th time), I re-do every fighting scene at least 3 times, because 1. the AI reacts differently each time and 2. because there's a range of ways and methods to kill them in different areas of the setting.

Bah, whatever.. at least I get a massive kick out of this game : P

@Salem: No, soft shadows, AA, etc (all PC ass-kickers) are disabled. Guess I need a new vid card.

I ran it maxed in everything at 1280x1024 and was smooth as a babys bare butt.
