Servers Canceled

Because many of you contribute dollars and time to the community's servers I thought you should know that we have canceled our BC2 & MoH servers. The plan is to cancel the CoD:BO server when the current paid period runs out.

Here's why:

1. Cant keep them populated.

I want to make it clear that this is not a failure of the WiH community members.

Even though we can occasionally pop them with our members, we can't do it consistently and end up going to other servers that are populated. Ppl have a limited amount of time to play and want to get right into a pop'd server and start playing. They dont want to spend their allotted gaming time trying to pop a server (this includes me btw).

Having said that you guys have been great about pop'ing our servers when you can and the owners really appreciate it!

2. The server management tools suck or dont even exist. It requires a lot of time to investigate for tools and then get them working when we do find them. This is a major failure of the game developers IMO.

3. Ppl are playing less (for whatever reason)

4. We can always rent a server for a month or so if we decide we need one for some reason like a tournament, etc.

5. Save money for a BF3 server or something else that might come around down the road.

6. There are literally thousands of other servers of all types and modes for us all to get on and play. We still want to play as a community, we just don't think it makes since to have our own servers at this time.

BTW, This does not include our dedicated server that we run PR, and other BF2 mods, L4D, etc on.

Comments?

That's a bummer to hear. But I totally understand. I myself found that I completely suck at the FPS shooters nowadays (pc and console). And it's no fun to get killed all the freakin time. So games like WoT is more fun for me. And racing games on the 360. Those I like.

With that said, I feel that WiH is a community with a great core group of people that still plays together whether it's on WiH servers or not. Wherever you go, always remember what WiH stands for. But most of all, have fun! These are only games.

I'm really sad to hear this, but I understand, especially considering the quality of tools and games currently out. I just don't see any near-future games with great tooling, and really geared towards the PC crowd. Maybe BF3 will be an exception, but until then I look forward to playing with you guys on other servers, and hope that one day we'll have the epic times we used to.

Thanks for all the hard work Admins and Owners!

Unfortunate, but inevitable with the lack of staying power a lot of the recent games have had. A lot of them either got boring pretty quick, or had features preventing establishment of a player base in the first place (MW2's servers for instance). I've recently been playing BFBC2 again for a bit, and from the limited sample size, one of the top servers is an incredibly corrupt server, where the only thing keeping it alive is all the players who gained admin power simply through donations and play there seemingly only because of the power they have and are free to use. The majority of the other servers have shutdown much like WiH. I would much rather see the end of a server than it go down that route in order to stay alive. I really appreciate, as I think most of us do, what WiH has done over the past few years, and hopefully we can get a game that has the staying power on the level of BF2 to bring back WiH and its servers to their former glory. Long live WiH!

I understand and think it is a wise move.

On BO yesterday afternoon there were aprox 60k players
then in the evening there was only 20k players.

I do worry about PC gaming as a whole but WiH will always be here.

Had to be done, and besides, we'll all stick together regardless, so it's not a big deal in my eyes.

Greatest bunch of gamers ever.

I completely understand this especially since I've been on the paying end of a server before. Once one of these game companies pulls their heads out of their butts and build a game with legs again we would all be happier I imagine. Hell I don't even have CoD Black Ops because I ran out of game money and options just trying to keep up with what everyone was playing at the moment. As much as I hate to say it, I really hope BF3 is the game with legs.
