View Full Version : Anyone still grinding tanks?

Ever since the patch with the US tanks, I haven't been playing much. They changed the XP gain somehow and now I get about 50% of what I was making before. The grind is painfully slow now. I log in to play each tank once a day to get the double XP and that's it. I need another 140K XP to get the IS-4. UUuggghhh...

apparently they did change the system a bit, so it is a lot harsher when you not do as much damage in a game. i have taken some time off from the game as to not burn myself out on it, and to save gold to get a damn month of premium
Quoted from the WoT forums:
"1. Nah not at all, a lot of people are just naturally greedy and lazy. Even if a IS7 could be ground out in 3 days casual play. Then someone (aka a lot of people) would macro while they slept, to get it in a day instead of 3 days. Regardless of how much of a grind things are. A lot of people will take shortcuts if they are easy and they can..
And as i said, even though there is systems in place to scan and detect afk/macro players, it takes a while for the pattern to be detected and proved, then be manually checked by a staff member etc, So a couple/few days later they end up banned anyway. But still that could be 100-400 games that they have thrown off balance before they get caught and banned. So on top of the auto banner system, I also like the do nothing, get paid nothing system that's in place. This is a different topic to low exp when you do, do damage, and replying to someone else's post..
2. No I didn't say TD's shouldnt camp and snipe, (or any tank for that matter).. If any tank gets killed before they get to do any damage to the enemy, then whether they die after 30 seconds or 15 mins, they still have accomplished nothing, and should earn almost nothing. Paying people just to play leads to macroing (as above). It needs to be a pay per accomplishment system to work properly.
The pay per accomplishment system could do with some tweaks. So players are paid sufficiently for what they do accomplish. And I'm sure it will be tweaked often between now and release while the game is finished.
Some people just get annoyed that things aren't perfect yet. Obviously they aren't. But there's 150? developers working on it often 12+ hours a day for the next 3? months aiming to make it perfect before release. Until then its free for you to test and look at what they have done so far..."

I've been kinda slow on the tanking side lately as well, but most of this is because of life and the lack of being able to play on a large grouped team. I am really looking forward to those battles, and I think that they have really dropped the ball postponing them so long.

I have still been grinding, though I have it spread between med, heavy, and TDs.
The new xp system is terrible in my mind. No one likes to grind xp in any game (WoW fans excluded) and before it wasn't too bad. Now its just awful. Double XP for first match of the day is where its at, and Crotch is right, I'm getting 50% or less of what I was getting before, and yet I am playing better than I was. Combine that with the new "balance" system, and it's no wonder people are upset.
Example (and this is the one that ROYALLY pisses me off and happens 4 out of 5 matches) I keep getting put into tier 7+ matches with the jagdpanzer 4. Even with HE rounds, I don't scratch these higher tier tanks like KTs, Ferdis, anything IS-3 and over. All I can do is plink as many as possible once to say i attacked it, run, hide, and hope my team wins the match, OR try to sneak around and hit their arty if there is any present.
That brings up a plus though. The "no arty" matches. LOVE THEM. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. No excuse to ride down the edge of the valleys to avoid arty, FULL ON TANK CHARGE!! (messed up a screen shot of 3 IS-7s running parallel across the desert map).

With the new XP nerf, there's really no point in playing as a team any more. Going to defend the arties, or block the unused lane, means you'll get a measly 30XP for your effort. The only option is to go along with the pack, which ever way they're going, and then charge full steam into the mix, hope to get some damage done, then die. Hanging back to shoot won't earn you much either. This sucks for those who are playing TDs since TD's aren't meant to be close-in dogfighters.

I completely agree. This is so frustrating, and I hope they change it ASAP! :(.:bs:

there seems to be enough rage about the changes in the WoT fourms so a change will prolly happen, look at all the arty nerfs as people complained this group of devs tends to listen to the player base to a point

I am getting about the same XP as I have been, but I get bored easily and suicide charge.
Since we are talking about it what would you suggest as a fair way to distribute XP? From what I have read this change was to minimize the incentive to macro bot. Now if it were me I would focus on bot detection and not so much xp distribution.

I thought that if the XP's were tank type specifics, then it would be fair. Reward the TD tanks that are meant to be snipers for shooting from their max range. Reward the scouting actions from tanks that are meant to scouts. Reward arties for shooting other arties. Reward the mediums for close-in combat. You get my point.
