Nice Pics Dig. I didnt get a chance to see the show but I did get to enjoy all the extra traffic around Chicago. Was away for most of the week so I didnt even get to check out the guys practicing. Ah well..

I watched from the top of my condo building on Saturday. It was a decent show, but lots of dead time in between acts. Here are some of my pictures. They didn't turn out as sharp as I wanted bc I was shooting from inside. anyways, enjoy!

Nice pics guys. I'm jealous you got to see an airshow, and in Chicago...

Crotch, the first "?" aircraft is a C-5 Galaxy the next one is a B-1B Lancer.

nice view of the angels

one thong i noticed, after working for a few years in the airport, is how quiet all the large cargo and bombers really are... ok the b1 was a little louder obviously, but, the c5 for it's size was bloody quiet, compare that to a 737 or a 757 or even a 777 the a10's were quite eerie too.

the f18's including the angels is how i remember heathrow, though concorde always seemed way louder then that too!

I just noticed that there's no #5 in the Blue Angels' planes in that last picture I posted. Weird...

I wish I could have had a better shot, but this was thru a window at an angle, shooting at fast movers. =)

if we are still in chicago next year i will take my slr and 600mm lens, it is bright enough for low iso film and since it is manual focus i will not have the auto focus issues i did with the blackberry...

wish i had thought about it this year :(

When we first moved to the midwest in 99, we decided to take a weekend trip to Chicago. We booked a hotel on priceline for $50/night on wed and drove the 3 hours to Chicago on Friday for the weekend.

We were in a hotel overlooking the lake with an excellent view of the lake from our room (the hotel wall was all glass). To our suprise, that was the same weekend as the air show!

When we moved to Chicago 5 years later, we went to show. However, it was hard to watch it from the ground after we had watched it from 20 something stories up.
