View Full Version : How the BF2 Buggy saved my life today.

So I was cruising down the interstate today in Florida, the road was wet from the usual afternoon rain shower. I am going about 75 mph in a 70 mph zone and I'm passing a guy who's going about 60mph.

At the last minute he puts on his turn signal and veers quickly into my lane. My first instinct was to slam on the brakes... and I did, preventing me from rear ending him and sending us both careering side ways down the interstate.

Putting on the brakes caused me to slide off the road and into the (thankfully) smooth grass median that divides the two sides of the highway. So, me and my 2000 mustang are doing about 50mph on wet grass and here's the point of my story:

For some strange reason my brain brought a memory me driving the dune buggy in the Gulf of Oman BF2 map. It was weird but driving on the grass like that half out of control and drifting almost the entire time was almost exactly like driving the buggy.

I was able to slide around on the median for about 150ft before I managed to slip back onto the pavement, lay on the horn, and flip the guy off as he raced past me. To his credit he looked absolutely mortified and it was obvious from that look on his face that he didn't even bother to look in his mirror before the lane change.

In some abstract fashion... I can't help but think that my time joyriding in the BF2 buggy somehow prepared me for that moment. :)

Nah. Just thought I'd share... Cheers.

I'm glad you made it okay, although it scares me somewhat that people driving on the road might be pulling from their BF2 vehicle experience to get around. :yuck:

I wasn't talking about Multiplex... I am a Floridian, born and raised....I KNOW how bad old people drive. I have been in 2 wrecks, both of them were with old people, and both times they recieved the tickets(meaning thier fault)
I say make people over 70 take driving tests every year and after any hospitilization more the 1 day.
Multi never said, but I GAURENTEE it was an old guy that didn;t look before changing lanes.

You're right he was an old guy. Hunched over the wheel and staring intently ahead.

Monos: Since I'm all about hijacking my own thread... This month I'm getting an '05 Mustang GT (Rouch I) w/ the supercharger. I'm pretty excited about it... just waiting for a black one to show up at the dealership. :)

why not order it ?

if you want a badass car try and get the '07 gt500 with the full stripe option in white, with black base.

I like the full striped pearl white (or whatever white that is) but I can't see myself driving it. I'm a dark color person... I'm not a vibrant omfgitswhite type guy. I'd also considered the dark red one... but I already have that color of mustang now. Trying to get something a bit different.

As for a gt500 itself... I honestly don't like the way it looks. *shrug* the Roush GT's are a lot sharper and more defined cars and that's the look I enjoy more than the hipped rounded style of the new Cobra style. As far as performance and stuff.. with the supercharger etc the 05 GT is gonna be pushing 426HP I believe... more than enough car for me. At any rate... it's gotta stay under 45k and I think a Cobra + extras will end up being more than that.

Here is what I'm shopping for: http://www.roushperf.com/html/rpp_05mustangstage1.htm
