He's lucky he got a few swings in on that chute before he hit the ground...

that's a great airshow stunt, albeit expensive to perform on a regular basis!

This plane just went through a $2.9 BILLION Dollar upgrade???? Are Canadian dollars like worth only .27 US cents?

i love the sequence of pics, though i want to see the one where the pilot does actually land in the fireball. kinda what those pictures suggest.

Seriously, WTF

He must have meant 2 million... there's no way it's worth billions.

Wow, that's a throw back comment to when the US dollar lorded over the Canadian dollar and we all joked that their money was equivalent to monopoly money. Those were the days. Military hardware is crazy expensive, though from what I read I think that nearly 3 billion payed for the fleet to be "upgraded" rather than for just that jet.

I think they meant the F18 in general... as in all of the F18s in the Canadian airforce. Or... maybe not considering they must have just lost all of them in that crash.

In any case, I read somewhere that the Canadians are bringing in F-35s to replace their old planes.

And crashing them is how they get rid of old stock. =)
