Well the Hawks have chance to win the cup tonight. 1st time in about 50years (So it's like half as bad as the Cubs) since there was no thread about it. I'm starting one.
I've always been more of hockey fan opposed to other non-NFL sports. My dad took me to a few White Soxs games when I was a little guy, but they lost every game we went to. Never really got to jazzed about baseball because of that.
Really started to get into hockey when I worked at a Play it Again sports. That store was really into hockey. So much so that when business was slow, we'd suit up in goalie gear and take shots on each other in the store. Good times! Also I'd get an amazing employee discount on new stuff. Kegg actually helped me get the job there.
Anyway, I've gone to plenty of Hawks games over the years. Actually got to see the 1st sporting event in the United Center which was a Hawks game!:woot: Didnt think we'd get tickets to it but I 'hid' my car in the taxi lane while my friends ran to the ticket counter to try and buy some. The cops finally noticed me right when my friends came back with the tickets.
If you cant tell I'm really excited about this. I've watched them get far in the playoffs before but never saw them get to the finals. Was very cool to see Michael Jordan at one of the home games (On TV) as well as Stan Mikita wearing a suit he must of bought during the last Hawks Stanley Cup win.
Also, the Hawks have their little song they play when a goal is scored. (I posted it in Dig's B-day thread) It's kind of an annoying song and perfect to troll the other team. Wont hear it for tonights game since it's in Philly tonight, but it's been playing during every Chicagoland sports segment on the news this week. I cant get it out of my head so I'm posting it again.

Any now to sit back, relax in my 20yr old Hawks jersey, and crack open a beer.
GO HAWKS!!

As a Nucks fan I really want to see the Hawks fall to Philadelphia, as unlikely as that may be. Over the last two playoffs that song has become the most annoying song I've ever heard.

Yeah the early news stories on that song had to do with Vancouver specifically just HATING that song. I think they decided to expand on the psychological warfare with it. :yaya: The video is pretty awesome at least.
And this game is driving me crazy! Fantastic Hockey! Go Hawks!
Congrats Hawks fans!! I spent some years in Chicago and it is great to see that franchise rise up and win again. You had some real difficult years with that ownership.

Well that was an anti-climactic ending... Noone had a clue what was going on. Oh well, Hawks win, at least their drought is over.

Yeah, it confused me. Accidentally switched channels to another Chicago station and it showed people going wild. I was like, 'They won? WTF?'. Was an amazing goal in the replay.

It was a great game to watch, was eating at my nerves lol, and the random jump and yell during the game.... knee didnt like it much haha XD
Growing up in Chicago with Lordbeer, it can be though as a Chicago sports fan (Blackhawks, Bears, Bull, Cubs). And as my wife can contest to I am a very intense sports watcher (and worst when I play), this cup run was no different. What made it worse is my wife is from the NE Penn area and follow the Philly teams. Need less to say I watched all the games and I'm draied.
GO BLACKHAWKS!!!!!
now only if my hockey game tomorrow has as good of an out come. We have to win tomorrow to make it into the playoffs.

That was an awkward ending to say the least. I think it was maybe less heart-attack inducing to flyers fans than an obvious winner would have been, though.
Great game.. great series. Good job Hawks and their 80% or so Canadian players :D

Got done watching the rally downtown. Holy shit that's a lot of people! I wasnt able to get down there myself but I know my brother went. Going to have to snag some of his pictures and pretend like I was actually at it. It looked freaking awesome on TV!
Nice Job again Hawks and Thank you. You've made the city proud.

I watched the parade on tv from work as well. There was an insane amount of people packed into the streets downtown chicago. I bet there were more people today than there was for the Xmas parade and probably more than the Obama rally a few years back.

i love hockey, my favourite sport, it is a shame it was not big in the uk, and was very hard to get on tv (american football was actually broadcast on one of the stations on a sunday night but never hocky or baseball)
i love hawks too and glad they won, though hae only been to one game at the UC since all top level professional sports games cost way to much to go to, which is why we go to the minor league wolves, which is an awesoem team, it is only a shame they could not get the calder cup this year too!
The rockford icehogs (ptooey) play the wolves quite a few times in a season and we remember playing alot of the current hawks team! in fact just before the playoffs antti neimi was done in the minors for rockford and playing against the wolves ( we beat them :D) if the ice hogs are as accesible as the wolves are after a game there are a number of rockford fans who have now some expensive jerseys with sigs such as antti, fraser, versteeg etc who signed them in the minors, ( we havw the likes of chelios and wendell young and a few others who may one day go onto greatness (it is a shame the atlanta thrashers suck so bad!:D) Cheveldayoff was also the GM of the wolves until this last year and was frequently at wolves games as his younger daughter still worked for the wolves when she was not in school, it was cool shooting shit at him for being a traitor *L*.
i hope that the hawks make it next year too that would be awesome, i also hope that a mysterious benefactor buys me glass seats for the whole season :D
yeah right may as well ask for a cubs win....
my eldest was downtown during the parade as she was in traffic court, she said she was behind kane when he got off the bus with the cup.
i need to get my hands on that cup, after all i have sullied the world cup ( probably why england will never win it *LOL*)

speaking of sullying the stanley cup, did anyone see that picture where Justin Bieber was holding it? I've never wanted to murder someone so viciously in my entire life.
