I'm sure this has been mentioned in other threads. I just want to make sure the info is here and upfront for everyone to review. After reading another thread on annoying armor, I want everyone to be aware of how this works. At least until I go tank whoring, then you can remove this thread. :)
First off you have to have a tracer dart gun. Yes it replaces your pistol. I have it in 3 of my 4 kits because it gives me some anti armor. So even if the tank blasts me into another game, I'll still have revenge.
Select your dart gun and shoot the tank. The dart IS slow but it has very little drop. So it isnt that hard to tag a tank that may be WAY off in the distance. It might even be in the grey zone one is unable to enter on foot. You will know if you hit it because you'll get a little message with 30points. After you've gotten a successful tag, go hide. Go to the safest spot you can find. When you're there then bring up your sights for the RPG or Carl Gustov. (AT4 wont work) When looking though the sights you should see a little red box that represents your tag, keep the sights on this until you see the range numbers appear below the box. This means you've got a lock. Now the lock wont make your rocket terrain following. If the armor is right behind terrain or a building, it might hit that instead of the tank. However I find it best to just shoot up into the air at about a 45-50 deg angle. The rocket will go up, change course, and come down on top of the tank. If the tank has a bunch of engineers on it, well you might get some bonus kills. You probably wont kill the tank in just one shot. However if someone says in TS that the tank is tagged, get your sights up and blast that fool! Every engi in TS should be beaning him
I like to shoot up and have the rocket come down. You might have to try and curve the shot at other angles though to get it around any cover the tank has though. I've also had the dart vanish in my sights. I'm not sure what causes this. I'm also not sure how long the dart lasts. I hope someone else can fill in the blanks.
The rocket tracking is pretty good. I've only darted one chopper and that gave me a good idea of what it can do. The rocket was tracking and looked like it missed. However it started to do a series of 360's right infront of the chopper before plowing into it's side. Good times. Wish I had a video.
I'm not sure how it works in Hardcore so if anyone can provide some info on that, it would be appreciated. Good hunting all!
