View Full Version : Lame Rush tactic

So last nite a bunch of my =HR= guys were on playing Rush HC. The other team was using the tactic of parking the Bradley far back in their spawn and just pounding the objectives with its cannon. I'm sure they have a spotter somewhere adjusting the fire. I think this tactic is pretty lame. I don't mind losing fairly when the attacking force is better than we are, but to lose bc some pu$$y is sitting in an armor safe and sound in the back is frustrating and lame.

i totaly agree... this is very lame and just bad sportsmenship...
i personaly would set it to the lame tactic in conquest to steal the enemy armor (from the beginning of the map) what made me stop playing conquest!!
but back on topic: i don't know what map you are talking about but i noticed one important thing in this game, even if you can't rush into the attackers team spawn ... you can call in mortar strikes there... so as long as we can't do much against lame tactics like this one (because there is no rule against) we may should just counter it with the whole defending team going recon and mortar the hell out of their base..:P

That's a good idea furby. Last nite I couldn't even see the bradley in their base. They've got that thing so far back you can't safely spot it. If you get on a vantage point, you'd get sniped... argh!!!

I know the exact round you are talking about and every time I put a tracer dart on the douche he backed up because I proceeded to pound him with my friend the Gustov, more engineers were needed for that guy, he and I square danced a few times. I suppose I need to return to the time when all kits carried tracer dart guns instead of the Magnum.

A helpful tip with the morter, as long as you aim at a point on the ground, you can move around. So rather than aim at a vehicle which is causing you a problem, aim at the ground next to it.

Blowing shit up in YOUR own base is not "pwnage", AB. =)

Seems like you guys needed more teamwork to take him out. They must of had it with people spotting for the Bradley. You guys needed more of it to counter. Coran has the right idea. Tag em and Bag em. Not sure how many more engineers you guys needed but if it was getting hit with darts, it should have been blown to bits.
Although, I'm not sure if the darts work differently in HC mode :dunno:

Doh! I'm SO out of the loop!
Is it "later in the week" yet?

Lets make a pact: If enemy armour on the other team is pissing everybody off on TS, everybody switch to engineer after their next death and blow that fucker into the next world.
More often that not, people just keep on going with their current class, which is either RPG-less or mortar-less

Happened to me on a random server, that guy had lots of engineers around him fixing the long at hits, so what i did, i went like a happy camper with my sniper calling mortar strikes and sniping the engineers!
dirty tactics need dirty playing

There is all kinds of "lame" tactics used in the game.
I am to tired and crabby to list them all.
Two choices can be made.
1. Detail with/counter it.
2. Make a rule against it and have someone available 24/7 to enforce it.
My personal problems with the game.
1. No auto balance.
2. People giggling in comms (not specific to WiH) about owning when the
teams are unbalanced in skill levels or number of players.

What makes me mad about this tactic is the fact that they can sit up in the grey area of the map where the defender's can't flank them and take them out.

Back in BF2, we combat this situation with the arty strike from the commander. Now, even with the mortar strike, you still need line of sight to target to call in the strike.
Jimmy is also correct in that they often sit back in their grey area where the enemy can't even enter.

Hmm, if they sit back in the grey area and are practically untouchable, it's almost like a cheat.
Would this constitute a kick or even ban, owners?

Tempban, IMO. First offense anyway.

I dont know about being in the so-called grey area, I'd have to see it but were not going to start making a new rule every time a new tactic comes along. That's a very slippery slope. It's difficult to enforce due to subjectivity.
I've read at least two possible counter tactics. That's the way to handle it. Remember how over powered the Blkhawk was when BF2 first came out? We had to figure out how to counter it then Dice finally nerf'd it. That worked itself out pretty quick.
I have to say, it's pretty funny to hear dedicated snipers complain about this...

You're the boss, but I've had this happen a few times, its very exploitative. When they're in the grey zone they are nigh untouchable, cuz the defenders can't go in it without being suicided.

I'm not the boss.
Like I said, i dont know about the grey zone. I'd have to see what's going on.

After driving around on an empty server & capping stuff to see what happens, the attacking side doesn't have a gray area behind their spawn point. May be a bug that favors the attacking side.

can anyone post a picture of the map to illustrate what's going on?

There's no grey zone in conquest, AFAIK. There is a grey zone in the attacker's spawn in the same map that was in the demo. If you are the defenders, you can not go up the road on either side of the hill. You will be killed. That's the grey zone.
