Snipers Supreme!

Can a class be more powerful? 1-shot kills, camouflage, mortar strikes! On maps such as that island hopping rush mode, it turns a battle into a sniper wars. I think that 90% of my deaths have been from snipers or mortar strikes from snipers. I really think EA needs to balance that class out or limit the # of snipers on a team or something.

I know some of you like playing as snipers <cough>Jimmy</cough> and some of you will only play as snipers <cough>Furby</cough>. How do you guys feel about the snipers? Why do you love it so much?

I actually find it completely boring (unless I have a shotgun, but then it isn't really sniping is it)...instead of being a mangina I like to get up close and personal with my enemies :) Whatever works for you I guess. I just talk to my buddy Carl Gustav for the ultimate sniper removal tool. :) Nothing better than sniping a sniper with a rocket.

It's completely amusing when an attacking team has nothing but snipers all camping and not actually attacking. Happens a lot in this game.

Hardcore mode I think it's overpowered, but in regular it's okay, I guess.

I hear ya Rajun. It's really frustrating when stuck on an attacking team full of snipers. You look on the map and there's like 3 guys attacking and 13 snipers hanging back trying to do that perfect headshot from 1-mile away...

I'm personally not a big fan of the class, I only play it to move forward when the team is stuck. Mortar strikes are cool but not as deadly as I think they should be and the best rifle I've seen so far is the starting M-24. I've seen many teams lose because to many players thought sniper was the way to go. For Hardcore on the other hand they are stupid powerful.

IMO the Engineer with a shotty and recoilless rifle is a tough combo. The recoilless rifle destroys building and vehicles with almost the same ease of a tank and if you know someone is behind the wall they usually die.

It would be great if DICE put a limit on how many people can snipe per team. That or how many rounds or even deaths in a row someone can snipe.

I think it's pretty balanced, though.

When I go medic (which I do more than sniper) I don't find myself getting too upset with the amount of snipers on the other team.
But if it really starts to piss me off, I just switch classes to sniper and blow their heads off. ;)

I think I was in game with you the other night Crotch when there was a crazy amount of snipers on the island map. You couldnt stand still for a second. Of course while running one could tell that at least 3 of them were taking shots at you. It was bad..

I've been trying to get some recon points lately but I'm not a big fan of that kit. Although sometimes it's the only way to get any action if the other team is sniper heavy. Gotta add that it is pretty fun to snipe out chopper pilots. I still like my XM8 + ACOG more though. I dont have the range of a sniper but it has a long enough reach for me.

As for the Gustav, that thing is a beast! I love how quickly it reloads compared to the RPG.

I just unlocked the M136. What do you guys think of that compared to the CG? I haven't used it much so I don't know enough, other than you have to arc the CG.

I like the M136 because you can guide it. Makes shooting hovering blackhawks easy :) I also like it because you can "home" in on moving vehicles.

But, with that said...i still like my landmines :)

I like the Gustav because it's awesome for anti-personnel as well. If there are two or three guys standing there I'm certainly not going to use my laser shooter aka submachine gun to try and take all three out. Blast a single Gustav though and BOOM! BIG BADA BOOM!

I spent the first week targeting the crap out of vehicles and people (yes you can tag people too, its funny.) And no one was hitting the marked targets, very frustrating.

Back to the thread topic, snipers are over powered and when you are on the assault side of the board they suck ass as teammates. I hope that as the game goes on people will use other classes more, having leveled out the sniper, but I have a feeling that it will become the number 1 class to use due to their high damage and low visibility.

To retort... the Gustav is freaking ridiculous. Sure, lots of people are going sniper.. but one shot, unless you're already damaged or it's a headshot, will not kill you with a sniper rifle.

The Gustav, I am quickly learning, is the worst possible noobtube-like weapon in the game. It's absolutely retarded... it's long range, very easy to aim, and is always an instant kill. Getting plastered with nearly a third of the players using it was one of the things that really pissed me off the other night. Believe me, snipers should be the least of your concerns when more people start getting this weapon...

i realy like sniping... its so much fun giving people a headshot from across the map!! or if they hide just let it rain on them!!giving headshots to people that are running or driving/flying is my favorite and don't get me wrong but even as a sniper you need skill, otherwise you won't get kills with it!!
i never was a fan of run and gun, because that's the real BS running and jumping around killing people like rambo (my opinion)
for limiting any kit in the game... i am against it, not because i like playing a map with only snipers.. just because i want to choose what ever i want to be, that's what i payed for!! limiting kits is for mods!!
i don't get it why everybody is complaining about all the snipers... if the attacking team has only snipers they can't win... and people like me also rush with a sniper rifle!! i guess people only complain when others are getting too good with any kit!! i see alot of people allready complaining about the grenade launcher, the m60, the at missiles and if there is a good tank driver they also complain about armor!!
just find a way to counter them.. i see alot of people rushing towards the attackers to knife or shoot them before they can get in a good position to do anything!!
i also remember alot of people blaming me for being too good with armor in the beta..
for me this game is about fun, for everybody with the kit they like and i am tired of getting called a looser or other stuff just for playing as sniper... it just reminds me of bf2142 where i also was sniping like hell... some may remember!! or cod4 where everybody complained about claymores or noobtubes.. i could talk about each game i know... there are allways people complaining about something when others are too good with it.. and tbh the only people i feel bad about sniping them, are people who aren't that good in any game because of their limited time to play these games (not calling any names) as for all the others : do i complain about you knifing me?? or killing me in other ways?? nope and i am also not talking about limiting the knife or your kit of choose, because you are good with it... so what's going on here?? why can't we just all play and stop complaining??
for me the snipers aren't overpowered they are just good on long range so quit trying to fight them when they have the range atvantage... get close on them and take them out!! or walk and run like a rabit (go left and right) that makes it hard for them to hit you!!
and stop sitting or staying in open areas without moving!!
or how about running from cover to cover like real soldiers would do??

actually the M60 is a legitimate complaint, considering you out range and out damage sniper rifles with it(yet the M14 which fires the same ammo does less damage)

The engineers XM8 compact is hackerish also.
I can spray it at a sniper across the map and sometimes after I stop firing
it will show a hit and a kill.

Even with all these things we have had some great games on the Conquest server the last couple days.

Thanks to this tip, I'm now a Gustav-whore. I feel better now that I can whore this up while getting head-shotted by snipers! =)

My thoughts on snipers:
A. I do play sniper 60% of the time, but I adjust my class as the map and section dictate.
B. Aside from headshots, I have never gotten one shot kills.
C. I have GOTTEN one-shotted more times that I can count (Filthy and Jimmy, I'm looking at you).
D. Quite frequently I will play sniper, but equip a shotgun or Thompson for assaults. The gadgets for snipers are highly useful to your team as a whole.
E. The motion detector is THE best squad assist device. Period.
F. Mortars ftw.

I agree with the M60 being the worst weapon. I really wish people would point out how ridiculously overpowered it is. Across the map kills (NO lmg in existence is even close to that accurate). I agree 100% with Bonez that the EBR should be even more powerful, accurate, etc, yet it is not.

Play HardCore mode. 1-shot kills are a plenty there since normal health of a soldier is like 50 instead of 100...

Although, in Hardcore, the motion detector is practically useless...

I like to play sniper battle-sniper style. I don't like to sit in one place too long, and I'm not afraid to get close and personal with the sniper kit when I'm on the assaulting team. The handgun and knife can get you through some sticky situations. Plus, the recon kit is very handy for the elimination of enemies and scouting out enemy positions.
