These charts are from Tom's Hardware and are based on specs not testing. They're good for a quick reference to check how a card or cpu compares with others.

Tom's updated their GPU list this morning.

Here is one from AnandTech website with very detail about each CPUs bench mark testing.

I always used PassMark CPU Charts:

But I like the quick view on the anandtech.com and bookmarked it.
Thanks

Sad fact is, hardware surpassed most gaming software four years ago. I think a lot of developers are affraid to push the envelope, thus limiting their market.

This quote from them agrees with my other thread about upgrading video card for preformance.
I don’t recommend upgrading your graphics card unless the replacement card is at least three tiers higher. Otherwise, the upgrade is somewhat parallel and you may not notice a worthwhile difference in performance.
I may be upgrading from a 9800gt to a 260gtx, not normally a good upgrade but my son is still on a 8600gt so he will get the 9800gt.
I will have to do some bench marking on my machine before I change the card. Q6600 3 gig Vista 32bit.
Dam forgot that I will need a new PSU for the 260 video card and my son will need my PSU to put the 9800gt in his machine.
Maybe to much work for a little gain, but my son will get a large gain.

Why don't you wait until the GTX 460 hits, and see if its an economical upgrade. Sure the GTX 480 has a MSRP of $700, hopefully the 460 will be substantially cheaper. Otherwise I'm affraid Nvidia isn't going to take much of a bite out of ATi. Near as I can tell all the suppliers have the new Nvidia cards ready to ship, just a manner of Nvidia giving the go ahead I guess. Maybe this week?

I thought official launch/release day was the 26th of March? May be old info though as I haven't been keeping up with GPUs lately.

supposedly the yields on the cores for the 4XX's are on the low side, which would probably cause it to be pushed back a little, personally I'm waiting for the G100 as well.

Haven't read anything about an official release date, but that isn't all that far off. Scary thing is that last set of drivers that Nvidia recalled were the first to support the new cards. Hopefully thats not what comes with them.
As for the yeild on the 40nm GPU's both Nvidia and ATi say they have improved their yeilds. Last article I read Nvidia was almost up to a 30% manufacturing yeild, and ATi's is pushing 45%. I'll try and find that article again. Better than the 3-5% either were getting last fall.

Because I can get a BFG 260gts 216core for $160 at Microcenter.
I am not expecting/looking for a huge gain but will benchmark it just to share the info with WiHers thinking of an upgrade.
The gain will be for my son who will go from a 8600gt to a 9800gt.
