There is tool that EA created to change the BFBC2 Configuration.

This should help everyone with lag issue or other config settings..make sure to turn off Bloom.

This should be renamed since it has nothing to do with connection or lag, just framerates.

:P

I'm having a tough time understanding my two video cards. I ran BFBC on my 7900gtx 512mb and it was running like pure sh#t. I ran the benchmarks and frames rate on what it would top off, and it maxed at 21 FPS(16-21). I have a 9500gt 1G and did the same thing it it topped off at 19FPS(14-19). Didn't bother to run BFBC because I was like well this will be worse. I decide to try it out and Im running it at med. specs and I lagged very little. WTF??????????

Hey if it's running fine, don't complain ;)

dl'd configurator, playing with the settings. bloom off def, no virus's found after scanning

Also found this info, a couple useful points in there

There will be no prone. period. There is enough cover in the game and they get destroyed anyways. If you cancel your preorder because of this, you are stupid. Don't give me that 'realism' bullcrap, you'll probably end up dying anyways; prone or no prone. read on.

-You get the Thompson at lv 10 and tracer dart at lv11 (in the beta)

-To use the tracer dart: Shoot at a tank, the dart goes sloooooow. Switch to rocket launcher and you'll see a square. Zoom in on the square and wait for the blinking to stop or distance to show up. Fire away.

-You can't run and gun in this game and expect to get a lot of kills. Bullet damage is fine, it's just lag or packet loss

-There is bullet drop, aim high when they're far away.

-Stats will be reset but you will be able to keep your name.

-The outrageous point requirements are done on purpose (Devs added 1000 to the beginning). This beta is to stress test the network, not levels. And don't complain about the PS3 getting more.

-High settings aren't implemented in the game, you're only on Medium when you set the game to High.

-The mouse sensitivity of some vehicles and turrets are purposely decreased (ex. tank turret takes a year to turn). There is some stuttering and that will be fixed.

-Squad size will remain at 4, stop complaining. 6? why not 8? 10? 12? there's always a bigger number. Remember we can spawn on any squadmate and DICE believes 4 is the most balanced. It works. It works very well.

-Mass Snipers are a problem in every game with snipers. Let the server owners decide if they want to limit them when the game comes out. For now, stats don't really matter anyways.

-Don't complain about "realism", you already absorb ammo and health through your clothes. This game is about as real as unicorns.

-There will be crouch toggle, it's on the to-do list at the very least. **This is no longer the case. They did think about it, but now they confirmed that there will be NO toggle crouch in retail. Source

-THIS game utilizes quad cores. Don't talk about how duals are fine on every other game and quads aren't needed. If you want THIS game to run well, then it's up to you if think quads are worth it or not. Recently the game has been optimized for dual cores. If the increase isn't enough for you, then I would start thinking about quads.

-This game is NOT MW2 and will not have gameplay mechanics from that game. Same with graphics, if you ran MW2 well, don't expect the same of this game. They are DIFFERENT games. And MW2 is not realistic either, i'll just say Commando Pro and just leave it at that.

-Some useful buttons to know: Middle click is knife, Left Alt is voice chat, press space for parachute, J for all chat, K for team chat, L for squad chat.

-Again, the beta isn't optimized. Certain cards/configurations won't run well. Wait for the final release before you judge.

-You can't strafe when sprinting. It's been in all battlefield games and I would like you to try it in real life. You can't.

-C4 the crates annoying you? Well, it's been fixed in the final build. It'll have more health. Also, try to shoot down that quad that's heading straight for the crate. It's usually stacked with C4.

-No communication from Devs? Devs post on Twitter and on the EU forums. This is not 1999, Twitter is common and easy to use. DICE is a European company, meaning they will be mostly focused on their European forums. The world does not revolve around the US. Make an account and start posting there, it's free. But be warned, idiots and trolls are universal.

-Seen some people changing variables like forcing dx9, resolutions, etc.? You change the parameters in Settings.ini, located in "My Documents" -> "BFBC2 Beta"

I found out why I am lagging so badly in my BFBC2 game..its FUCKING sound issue...i killed my sound process and was playing game with 32 players with no lag at all...its game sound issue causing me problem..is there way to turn sound to lowest possible setting in BFBC2?
I try doing that in game but doesn't work very well...i had to kill my sound process in order to get run better.

It's because it uses the CPU for sound.

Didn't you post that, Crotch?

Anyway, if it does, that's pretty goddam retarded and needs to be addressed. Why do I have an SB X-Fi Gamer then??

Someone posted the article about the sound in BC2. Basically it uses the CPU for software sound processing, instead of the sound-chip... Lame-o-rama...

Why they'd do that is beyond me... they REALLY need to make use of our amazing sound cards.

fucking that's stupid...they did this because this game was design for quad-core machines and console games..that why..I am not updating my machine because of god dam sound for this game...i am just not gonna buy this game..and get Startcraft II that is coming out sooon.

It'll likely get optimized in the release. I mean assuming a second core for soudn processing is kinda dumb.

I take back what I said about Dice taking advantage of hardware advances. :hehehe:

Agree though, seems pretty lame.

I think Joker hit this on the head. This is IMO... but the Beta with a different map came out on the PS3 like 3 months ago. it ran flawlessly! Then they ported it over to Microsoft platforms (pc and 360). My guess would be that they developed this on the PS3, and since they don't want to deal with all the various audio hardware from the pc side, they went with a software audio implementation. At least that's a common and single audio implemenation, much like developing for the PS3 console.

That's my guess...

Sounds like a good guess.

I agree, it's total BS. They should have written the game to take advantage of the various hardward audio chips out there like they've done in the past.

Hopefully they patch it, but if not maybe someone can hack it and get it to take advantage of our cards.

Then again, I have absolutely no idea how hard that would be.
