Speaking as an Owner: We are VERY excited about this new BF game! Supporting the Battlefield series of games has always been one of our major directions here at WiH back in 2004. In fact, BF2 was the catalyst for the inception of WiH. This will be a major game for the WiH Gaming Community. Our plan is to have our own ranked dedicated server up the day (if not the minute) of release.

The reason why I say this is because for games which are not required to be played through steam there can be a difference in the times of release for patches in and out of steam. I don't know if this will be an issue with BFBC2 but after dealing with the whole having to wait two days to play Aion after purchasing it I am forgoing steam on this one.

I just got off the phone with gamestop. Asking them why I haven't gotten my key. No real answer except that they will take care of it in 24-48 hours.

If it's not here by like 3-4 pm i'm lighting up their customer service, and not in a nice way.

I used to work at gamestop and let me tell you ... their methods of efficiency are horrid. As a worker i used to feel sorry for some of these customers ... part of it was due to the game company and part of it was due to gamestop policy.

If I don't get a response or e-mail from gamestop by 3pm PST i'm ordering it from EA digital download and cancelling it from gamestop. Then i will call their customer service and tell em to eff off.

Their original beta key date was the 26th as well and then they changed it.

I'm going crazy. Why is it so difficult to transparently get the damn beta keys out? It's a fucking list and e-mails people are unemployed go hire some people at 10$/hour and data entry this shit.

yeah, you'd think that there's a database with the emails of those who pre-ordered and the available keys or a key-gen program. For each email, either key-gen or grab an key from the database and email it out.

To be perfectly honest I don't know. I don't trust direct 2 drive, EA downloader says it has windows 7 compatability issues, and gamestop is on my bad side now. Even though I said earlier steam may be a bad idea I'm now trying to convince myself that it may be ok because so many people are on steam getting this game, and others on the boards here have swayed me with workarounds.

I mean I walked into a store and asked them why they don't have any PC games on the shelves. Answer: "Steam is just so big now no one comes in anymore." You would think that if they're competing with steam they'd have their fucking shit together. Guess not.

For me, I ordered from EA back in early Nov. when they sent out an email promoting there Limited Edition game and before any mention of a beta. I still havent recvd a beta key and I'm starting to get nervous.

Note no dedicated servers for the beta.

I was having some issues with megaupload ... apparently they were throttling uploads so i was only uploading at 170k max. I am using drop box and sending at 500k atleast ... so in about 50 mins from now it should be done. Steam was very fast, I was surprised. It took a little bit for the beta to finally show up but when it did I was able to download it in a little over an hour. I've only got to play it for about 15 minutes because I have some homework to do before work, but holy cow this is going to be some fun stuff. It is very intense but I probably need to update my video drivers because I'm having some graphics issues.
