I think the fact that tanks are up for grabs and all assets at points your team controls are basicly there for everyone. How many times have you almost taken out the enemy tank. one more anti tank round will be the nail in his coffin, only to have, by pure luck, your tank or apc spawn right next to the wounded enemy and he jumps out and is in a new threat. Or you are sprinting to your armor when an enemy buggy swoops in and grabs it, now he is a real threat, again with your teams assets.

There should be a hack time like in CoD:UO. It takes about 10 seconds or so to hack an enemy vehicle so you can use it. I would still grab enemy tanks but it was so they would have to destroy there own assets. 10 seconds makes you need to be stealthy to gank enemy assets. I just really hate at your control point all armor is up for grabs. I think having to be stealthy, or useing the if I cant have it neither can you approach, would add depth to gameplay and make controling a location with vital assets even more important.

The most that the real military does to secure vehicles is slap a padlock on a little cable that wraps the steering column. With thanks they probaby just put a padlock on the top hatch door.

C'mon... if the vehicle is there then you should be able to use it.

sorry meant to do a reply and added an extra post of the same thing. There is no way in hell anything as important as a tank would be left ungaurded, EVER! thats what I think at least.

I see where you are coming from, but even a padlock and a steering lock or something would take 10 seconds to disable. Just 10 seconds, thats not long, but long enouph to make rushing into 10 enemy infantry and grabbing a just spawned piece of armor not a gift from the god of war to make havoc with other teams assets. Like I said ust my opinion and sure as hell dont get everything right. But in CoD it made for great fun I thought.

More like two seconds to disable. You don't have a pistol for nothing, i'd just shoot the thing. Honestly I don't think it's such a big problem as you can do it to them just as easily and I find it rare that the enemy sits in a tank of yours for very long.

Yes I totally agree with this! I totally forgot about the sweat inducing ten second turn it took to utilize an enemy vehicle!

umm yeah it may be a lock around the padlock column but has anyone here ever started a tank??? i do not believe they are ready to go on a moments notice.

i think the armor should have a wind up period like the jets and helos. meaning a few seconds before being able to move AND fire.. call it systems initializing.. considering that all these high tech fighting vehicles have the onboard computer systems that need to bootup...hehe..

however i think ten seconds is a bit much.. 5 sounds about right. i mean ou jump in and you are still getting pounded but if your opponent sucks you may get off that lucky shot.

jeeps leave as is... but anything with a computer enhanced fireing system (everything besides jeeps) should have a wind up period.

BF2 was build with an arcade spirit in mind... not from the design standpoint of trying to be a combat simulator. If you want to say that realistically it takes a few minutes (probably more than that) to get a tank rolling... then it shouldn't matter if it is a friendly or enemy tank. That rule would have to apply to all tanks.

I don't think 5 seconds is reasonable in either condition... You know your own car but it takes you longer than 5 seconds to unlock your car door, open it, sit down, put the key in, turn it, let off the brake and put your car into reverse/drive and then push the gas.

Face it... it's an unrealistic game all around... from every single point of view. BF2 is not... not... not realistic.

Anyway, rant aside... just leave it the way it is. There are so many other things that need tweaking... if you're so worried about it just make sure you kill the ass before he has a chance to get into the vehicle... and depending on what class you are it may actually be easier to kill him once he's inside his metal coffin. :)

whatever multiplex.. do not try to play the sim card on me.. i have played all the series since BF came out. I know what they are going for.. I am looking for the middle ground between the original poster and the your side.

I would rather it the way some mods have made it. You cannot steal the advanced enemy equipment. makes folks think twice about just running into a base with out support or plan.

that made for much better game play imho and i cannot wait for those mods to come back.

it is fun to play this for now but once the mods come back i will turn my back on the vanilla BF2 as i have on the rest of the series. The mods that come make this a better game.

bottom line is we play what we are dealt but ideas are nice to have and thats what the mods are out there for.

I agree with Multiplex. I like it the way it is except for the tweaks and updates that need to come into effect. BH stat whoring is no different than what I used to do with the slick in BFV. Now when I'm on the other side and bring that slick down I get me a bunch of points. Plus I like watching the gunners and engineers fall out of it.

A couple mods, DC for instance coud lock vehicles from the oppostion. I find that more aceptable then 5 or 10 sec hacking time. If you spend your life flying a F-15 you can NOT jump into a MIG and fly off, you wouldn't even be able to read the damn flight deck to turn the engine on.
