VOIP only works for first 10 or so seconds

I've used some other threads to set up my microphone and test it in BF2. Then, when I get into a game, I can see the green and red microphone icon on the right when I talk. After a couple of exchanges with people, somehow my settings change so that the mic is deselected and I can't enable it anymore. Anythoughts?

My sound card is what came with me Dell computer.

I would appreciate any help I get. I'll be happy when I'm not the deaf mute running around in the game.

I think Drayu had this problem previously. Maybe he can tell you how he fixed it.

I just searched through Drayu's messages. Couldn't find anything relevant. I did go through a mic setup thread on here. Everything seemed to work, but the same problem persists.
