With all that has been going on in our lives, I have deceided to get back into things i used to enjoy.

At work they bought some nerf guns which are fun, relativly harmless and reasonably cheap.

I decided to go one better and get the nerf chain gun, the Vulcan... I found out the modification for it to make it fire a bit quicker, (basically using 2 (9.6V RC batteries in paralell to boost the voltage to about 20V which is more then twice the origional voltage of 9V ( 6 'D' size batteries) The modification was quick and easy. and actually i thought alot better then the origional design, I also used a little more time to make my modification better then the website's by using the origional battery tray for ease of access.

My favourite part however was the painting, Nerf as you know is garish and Plastic ( by design) but i could not have a 500RPM nerf gun that looked like it was out of the circus, so it got a spray job!

I have to admit it has been a number of years ( about 10) since i did any model work and painting I am as rusty as a florida ford, and i have limited space and supplies to do it but, it came out ok.

below are the before, during and after pics in order:

Wow this thing was bright!

As I said not great by any means, I know i need alot more practice again to get as good as I was, this did not even have any kit bashing done to it! and the Yellow stripes were AWEFUL!

It will be stored in my overhead locker at work ( which is lockable) no one knows aboutit so when they start a nerf war i will be ready..

It's name is JANE..short for Jane-Gun :D

That looks cool.

I don't remember these cool toys when I was young, but that was when I had to walk to school, in the snow, uphill both ways.

that was the general idea, i was tossing up between more authentic gun metal colours or a more sci-fi look.... the sci-fi look won because it was easier for a start.. the gun design reminds me of a space marine gun or something from doom or quake...they have those nerf revolvers here at work.... they are in for a suprise *L*

I never used a nerf gun before!!!! i need to get me one of those.
It looks really nice, color looks good also. But just one suggestion just for future reference, if you want to make it look more realistic next time take some bondo ,or any body filler and blend the seam line so it looks more solid.

A good friend of mine and lovely girl Brandi Dunn Edwards is a pretty talented artist. She has done some mods with the help of another friend of mine Jeremy Wood on nerf guns. To make them look more "Steampunk" like.

i was thinking about cleaning the mold lines up but forgot then i started painting and could not be botheredto redo it... it still is a toy, and, i kinda did not want i too realistic just in case they get a little nervous at work *LOL*

i only just found another hobby shop near my house so need to stock up on some milliput and other essentials, everything is so expensive now though...

hopefully i can pursued the wife and fam to give me somewhere to work on stuff... it sucks using the kitchen table, i have a star trek enterprise cutaway AND D that have been in boxes for years now.

i miss doing figures though but again they are real expensive out here, unless you are in to trains or RC stuff general kitbashing is not popular.. i blame video games

those stempunk ones are cool... i did not disassemble mine, i was too lazy...

gives me an idea though...
