BF2 windows 7

I havent played BF2 in a year or so but the other day i heard about the new patch 1.50 and thought id give it another go. The patch notes sounds really good.
Im running windows 7 and up untill now i have had no trouble. I installed BF2, BF2SF and installed patch 1.50 yesterday. It all installed sucessfully but it dont work. When launch the game it begins to launch. The screen goes black as if its starting to load but a couple of seconds later it puts me straight back to my desktop. Ive tried running it in normally and under troubleshoot compatibility with and without the BF2 disc in and it always does the same. Im pretty dumb when it come to problems like this, is anyone else having same trouble or may no what the problem is? Any help would be apprieciated

I know there are people who have had this problem. Google it, I know there has been some threads on teh Project Reality Forums. Look there....if you can't find it, let me know and I will see if I can find.

Modify the .exe to not show the videos on startup. Worked for me on a few apps.

Im not sure if it matters because you have windows 7 but i know from first hand since i had some similar problems when i installed it on xp and then later vista. i was always solving them problem with uninstall completely and reinstall the game. i hope it works good for you.

going with what gumby said. To stop the videos from playing, go into the C:BF2 folder and rename the videos from .bik to .bike

You can also put it into xp compatibility mode.

Ok i think ive solved it, well its working at the mo anyway. Famous last words! All i done was reinstalled the game but this time i didnt bother installing BF2SF and installed patch 1.41 before 1.5. It worked fine straight from disc, on patch 1.41 and at last 1.5.

Someone else said somewhere that they install 1.41 patch before the 1.5 and it fixed their poss W7 issues.

Yeah, there is some kind of registery problem.

You have to install the 1.41 patch and then the 1.5 otherwise it won't work.
