Across my career as an avid FPS gamer I've come across interviews with great players and I've noticed that a lot used to play games that relied heavily upon reflex shooting. One such game was called instagib, which was also brought to my attention by Estrella. It's a one-hit kill game that's recently been modded over to Source.

I just got done playing it and I must say -- it WILL help your aim! Fo' real. I've always believed that Threat Response training will train both speed and accuracy -- but that's hard to accomplish in counter-strike because if you lose, you generally have to sit out for a minute or two -- plenty of time for your system to cool down and refresh itself instead of staying on the red line.

In this game, it'll train you to develop the focus and reflexes of shooting swiftly and accurately while completely following the principles of SAFE shooting.

It's a brand new mod so there's only a few servers out there (I've only played it once... tonight, and there was only one listen server up).

Here's how it turned out. Took a beating at first as I got a feel for the game, but once I got warmed up, this happened:

I feel right at home at this mod. I think it'll be an excellent addition to my gaming library :D and I believe it will for those of you interested in improving your aiming in counter-strike (specifically the First Shot, control, speed, accuracy, evasion, shooting from behind cover, and shooting at covered targets). The beautiful reason is because it's a HL2 mod so the mouse sensitivity settings and all that are COMPLETELY identical to the ones you use in CS:S -- not like in BF2 where ya gotta wrestle with the sensitivity to find out that "feels" like your cs:s one and settle for it. Same settings, same game, different mod.

Try it a few days, get a feel for it and see if it improves your CS:S game.

Oh.... my... god. I LOVE INSTAGIB. All I played on UT was Instagib. I loved the fast action, and knowing that if you got hit, you're dead. GOING FOR IT NOW!!!

EDIT!!!!: After playing, this sucks. The instagib bullets are much too slow. I remember in UT when they were super fast.

I'll try it out. I used to love playing UT instagib. It's cool that they have a boomtown mirror, that's the only download site that doesnt suck in my opinion.

Yea instagib is a great way to improve your aim...Saur(this is off topic sorry) but you told me there was a way to increase your mouse sensitivity in CS:S passed the max..can you PM me the command or type it here whatever which way. Thx.

Well first off, you can start by adjusting your windows default sensitivity. That has an influence on your in-game cs:s sensitivity. but I believe the command you're looking for is the m_customaccel 1 command.

I use m_customaccel 1, with the rest of the accel tweaks left at default. You can, however, adjust them for a more sensitive game.

all of those have an influence on your sensitivity. If you increase m_pitch and m_yaw, you'll get a faster sensitivity (say .032) For the accel speed, adjusting _scale is the best way to influence it.

Also, you can purchase a mouse that supports a higher DPI resolution, such as the Logitech MX518. the higher resolution of DPI your mouse supports (default is 400, mx518 maxes at 1600) the faster your sensitivity will be.

Personally, I think anything over 4 sens at default 400 dpi has the potential to hurt your game, but sensitivity is like.. the most personal cvar tweak anyone can alter. So it's really up to you.
