"BF2 Combat's clan fusion, allows clans, LAN Centers, or other groups of up to fifty to join and fight as one contiguous unit. Members can also participate in the map-making team, movie production squad, or writers' guild if so inclined, and they're always looking for new ways to improve the system."

This "Tour of Duty" thing sounds pretty awesome.

Sounds a lot like Battle for Europe from Day of Defeat.

In fact, it probably is the same thing. The sucky part is it costs money to play, the not SO bad part is it's like 10 bucks for 3 months...or 3ish dollars a month. It used to be free, at least the DoD one was and it was really fun. Added a whole different level to the game as the battles mattered on a global scale and eventually one side won the war.

This sounds very similar to the campaign mode of Global Warfare -- a small mod for HL that could never really get out of the rat race because of inter-team troubles w/ the dev's. But in that mod the next map was determined by the actions of the map before it. Never truly got stuck on a back-and-forth between two maps because there were multiple objectives to a map that either side could accomplish to win, and there were combinations of who won what and who lost what. Sounds a little complex, but it wasn't.

For instance, spawning happened at a team's base. The team was then transported to the combat zone via a transport. If you blew up the opposing team's transport and then eliminated the remaining soldiers before a replacement transport could come in then that team won through elimination.

But then there were objectives for destroying a specific bridge, or stealing certain documents, or assassinating a General or bombing this or defending that bla bla bla and any different combination of those objectives, whether met or not, would lead to another map toward the other's sides capital or away from it.

Good theory, but like I said -- never got past the beta stages because of dev team troubles :(

We will not be participating in the admin program. We have our own admin team that we trust. So we won't be handing out admin rights to every tom/dick/and harry out there who thinks they can admin a server.
