Or, is Bob just an idiot once again?
It only has a few days of gaming on it. I was playing the new Rachet game, and left it running last night cause I was in some big fight areana...just paused it and switched back to TV.
Got home tonight and switched the TV to game...and there was some waving line screen saver looking thing going. I could do anything to make a game play. Switched discs, mashed every button, changed controllers, nothing....no menu. Just the waving Sony Start SCreen thing.
Shut it down, rebooted it...nothing.
Should I just climb back on the short bus from whence I came or is it freakin broken already?

Never heard of that problem AB. I've left mine on over nite as well, but never had that problem. Can you exchange it?

I don't know. I assumed I was just stupid and ain't doing something right.
If I shut it down, turn it on, and insert a disc...the disc should auto start shouldn't it?
All I get is the Sony music, then the wavy screensaver.
Actually..the very first time I shut it down and restarted, it gave me a menu that included a list of stuff like "reformat hard drive" or something and other scary sounding things. I clicked option 1 which was start, and haven't been able to bring that menu up since.
The light is green...and with a disc in there is a green one and a blue one.
Having surfed a bit for problems, it sounds like an orange light is a symptom of system death. Haven't seen orange yet.
Frustrating, to say the least.
And again....I'm fairly sure it's operator error of some kind. I've only used it a few times.
You would think if a five year old can use it, then I could.....but you never know. LOL

I remembered reading some stuff about problems with the new PS3 firmware, but.. I dont really know what the symptoms of it are. I didnt have any trouble with the new firmware. :dunno:

It's distracting me from the new laptop....
I think I'll whip up a peach cobbler to ease my pain.

I am making peach/pineapple cobbler tonight for a twist.
Anyway problem is to much money which = to many toys.
It is math, something is going to have problems.

On second thought I got it at Walmart...and can't find the receipt. LOL
I'll tell off on myself....tossing back to the short bus comment.
I tried to play COD when I first got it...but the couch is too far from the machine for the cord to reach.....(see where this is going yet?)
So last week I order two cool wireless controllers....
Realized TODAY while READING THE BOOK, that the two controllers that came with it ARE WIRELESS!!!
I just needed to take the cord out.
Freakin' eat up with dumbass.
I should just give up trying to game ever ever again, ride out into the pasture and watch cows until I die.
(edit...just noticed my home PC is amazingly fast tonight. Not FAST by any stretch, but I haven't given up in disgust after five clicks)

AB, you need to pick up an Xbox 360. There's more of us on 360 than on PS3. Just throwing it out there. =)

Interesting idea...IF there was a "we" in my online life.
Alas, with this connection I am only an "I", no matter what system I have.
(not to mention "where the hell was that opinion" when I was pondering what system to get?)

AB, when it boots, try pressing the PS button in the center of one of the controllers, see if you get a menu.

Sorry. PS3 due to the BlueRay is a win for me when I get an HD capable TV.
I don't have enough funds to do both Xbox360 and PS3. I don't like consoles THAT much.
Did the wired controllers work? Was it simply a wireless controller issue? Also is there anyway to "Reset" a PS3? Like a small little paperclip sized hole someplace?

I hear ya Kilroy. The ability to play BD movies with the PS3 is a HUGE plus, IMO. I pretty much my PS3 just for movies. I have like 1 game for it. I play a lot of racing games on my 360, and FPS on my PC.

This is what brought up the scary menu the first time I tried it. Now it doesn't.

Try that Bob. I had a similar issue and just 'reset' the PS3.

Thanks Kilroy. I hadn't seen that answer yet. I thought about calling Wally and asking if I can exchange it without a receipt, too.
The cobbler is not long for this world papasan. You better hurry.

Menu is back.
*woot*
BTW, service was going to be $150.00 since I can't find the receipt.
Save your receipt boys and girls.

And...by the way, I think I mentioned playing Ratchet earlier....
I meant a mega killer zombie war game mod.
